I don't know why but I thought you was up near me and was going to suggest Pennine Pen Animal Rescue . I am so glad I didn't know about them when I went Manchester Dogs Home or I wouldn't have our Poppy .
Then I was thinking if near Susan 3Dogs she could help. But you are miles away from us both .

That's strange I wonder why dogs wont be rehomed with primary school children.

We don't mind travelling if it is for the right pooch. The reason some of the dogs can't be homed with children is they have been picked up as strays and can't guarantee their backgrounds. The RSPCA have said this isn't set instone as my children have grown up with dogs and know how to treat/look after them. We have already been homechecked and approved it's now a case of waiting for the right dog. Sadly, I don't think I could rehome an older dog just yet, I can't go through the pts again anytime soon:(
