TS, sorry cant help but have you looked in debt free board? they give good advice over there

No not yet, I'll have to have a look later.

I did google and few references to MSE came up but they were all for people having phone calls after receiving letters first.

The only thing that concerns me is if any company would not know her home address but seems DRP deal mostly with parking fines so I assume she would have had letters here first as her car and car insurance are registered to this address. She has special student car insurance where she has a home address but can add on student accommodation.

She had both her deposits back from her shared houses in year 3 and 4 and already had the deposit for her accommodation back for last terms flat, so it can't be anything owed there otherwise they would not have been released.

That would leave utilities I guess, the only one in year 4 with her name on was the internet which she paid up and cancelled. The other flat mates had different bills in their names, and as far as she knows these were all finalised.

That sounds spooky TS. If it were me I'd ignore them if I hadn't done anything wrong. Poor girl must have got a shock though when they rang back. Maybe they have the wrong number xx

That's what I'm hoping AJ just a wrong number.

Little bit of advice needed please, DD2 has had couple of phone calls on her mobile few weeks apart from DRPL (Debt Recovery Plus Ltd). Both times been voice messages and didn't mention her by name.

The first time she rang back without speaking to us as it had worried her. She was asked for her ref no. which she doesn't have one as has never received any formal correspondence from them. The lady asked for her name and vehicle reg which she gave. But was told no outstanding fines for her. Phew! Just assumed it was wrong no. But now she has had a second call and it's same bloke ringing. I have told her not to answer and to ignore. Is this the best way forward?

I notice they do tracing for landlords but it's well over a year now since she rented anywhere and as far as she knows everything was paid up and cancelled.

It could be that they have someone on their books with a similar name or even number? Strange that they are using her mobile number though.

While she has been at uni her mobile has been her only telephone number. So setting up bills etc would have all been done through her mobile. The voicemails don't mention her by name though.

It could just be that they are fishing around, trying to find a person with that name, or maybe someone has even put the wrong number on a form to avoid contact?

At the end of the day she probably needs to answer one of these calls and find out what is going on, preferable without giving away too many details.

Yep - that's it. £3 difference between SEL of £7.50 and the £10.50 charged plus £2 GC (smiley)
