    Hello dearest Elite

We had a lovely weekend, and the steam train trip to York was great. Pity we couldn't see the lovely scenery as the fog was too thick and it was dark coming back. Train was 50 mins late in morning as lots of delays due to someone jumping in front of train ealier - so sad when someone thinks that is the only thing left for them :(:( We went into the railway museum for the couple of hours we managed in York at lunch time and ate in the Central Hall - beautiful food and service, thoroughly recommend it - and museum is free too

Got to spend tonight and tomorrow pulling Christmas presents out of all the places I have stroed them, so that should be fun

Great news about the new job in the new year Arthien :j

AJ (((hugs))) to you and your family

Keep the pics coming VT, loving the adventures of Mr Ted and love that you included Kevin the carrot :rotfl:

I disagree with this. If the waiter was to take a rubbish cooked meal out to a table, they (probably) would not get a tip, and on the flip side, if they took a stunning plate of food out, they might be more likely to be tipped. The kitchen staff have no way of earning tips, yet they are contributing to the customers experience. I would say the tip should go to all concerned.....if a tip is required (which is a different discussion all together).

Yes, I believe it is illegal to serve someone who is intoxicated.

I once owned a restaurant and plenty of customers used to send a separate tip to the kitchen. This is something I now do if I have a good meal that has been prepared from fresh ingredients but not if it has just been made from fresh/frozen stock meals.

Nice to hear we are over the 'winter hump'. Grey wet foggy day here so knowing that we are moving towards spring put a smile on my face.

I am sorry for lack of photos last couple of days but Mr Ted was requisitioned by dgd and her elf took centre stage. Bless her she was watching her tablet in bed one morning (grandma needs her sleep) I went in and he was sitting on her lap and she was gently cupping his chin in her little hand. I am sure she thinks he is magic:)

    Evening all!

Just running in and out as I still have far too many things left on my to do list, but I've been tasked with finding a last-minute present for a 27 year old male friend, for around £10-£15. He doesn't do much in the way of hobbies, but he cares about what he wears and his appearance, and likes brands. He also likes whisky so I wondered whether a small bottle might be an option, as I can't think of a branded gift item that would be nice for under £15. Any advice for either a present or a suitable small bottle of whisky would be gratefully received as I only have tomorrow to get it

This is the only other present DH was supposed to get, other than his gifts to me, so lord knows what I'll be unwrapping on Sunday!!
