Also anyone with Nationwide savers accounts check the savings rates as of December 1st as they are having a major overhaul.
They have sent out 2 lots of letters but I imagine the letters are buried in the To Do file for some people.
I also think the timing is sinister. In December and January I imagine a lot of people are shifting money in and out of accounts so this will look like business as normal for this time of the year.
If you have an old regular savings account which was paying 1.75% it will change to becoming an Instant Access saver 4 paying only 0.25%
This account you could pay up to £1000 into so it was a useful long term account for anyone saving for a big project.
Also anyone who had an old monthly saver with Cheshire Building society when it was amalgamated with the Nationwide in October 2014 they allowed people to keep these accounts open. Instead of the old fashioned passbook the account just appeared on your list of accounts when you logged in online. It was confusingly called Monthly saver but you can rename accounts so mine was always Cheshire.
You could actually have both Cheshire monthly saver and Nationwide monthly saver - I would think there might only a few hundred people still running both accounts.
This old Cheshire monthly saver originally paid 5% in the dim and distant past and you could put up to £500 a month into it but it was now paying 1.75%.
This will become Instant saver 6 from December 1st and pay only 0.25%
From the numbering I think there must be numerous other historic accounts being closed and renamed from tomorrow
The Cheshire monthly saver was my very first savings account when we finally emerged from the black hole of debt and misery so I am very emotionally attached to it.
So what now.
I am going to top up the ISA for now which at least is paying a pitiful 1.05% - just check for the old standing order and shut it down and rejig the excel chart ...“Create all the happiness you are able to create; remove all the misery you are able to remove. Every day will allow you, --will invite you to add something to the pleasure of others, --or to diminish something of their pains.”0 -

Not sure if it will be of use to anyone else....I have had Nectar points from a deceased relative transferred over onto my card...I contacted them online and it was really easy...Just needed to attach a copy of the power of attorney....
Should show up on my account in the next 24 hours...
Hope you are all having a good day

Fourp is home
We went to a WI Prize Bingo last night & Fourp won 3 houses & 2 x 2 lines.
Christmas sorted
Admittedly I stressed (like last year) I didn't want to win the vegetable hamper.... So he won the vegetable hamper
and a huge pile of Boots Royal Jelly Gift Sets. And a hamper of assorted foods
2 x Selection boxes - needed for DNs Christmas presents
and a Celebrations tub.
When he won the vegetables the Caller - John, mentioned how I would be thrilled:o:o
Later when Fourp was at the bar I was offered a swop of the vegetables for a CAKE !!! hamper........
It was only when we got home & were unpacking - he asked where the vegetables were?
But we now have a homemade Christmas cake, a chocolate cake, a dozen homemade mince pies & 2 bottles of wine.
Far better than vegetables:D:D
Well done. :T
Must admit I would rather have vegetables than cake though! The Xmas cakes that have been wasted here over the years...:(“All shall be well, and all shall be well and all manner of thing shall be well.”0 -

From reading this I think your meltdown has been totally resolved That's good0 -
I have been to PO and returned my MS order (the QC one) in its entirety.
The gifts I had chosen seem tactless now in the light of very recent personal events in the life of the couple concerned, these have happened since the order was made, so it is a genuine return.
My GC will be refunded in due course and I'll just send flowers instead.“All shall be well, and all shall be well and all manner of thing shall be well.”0 -
