  • Hot chocolate anyone?

Thoughts please? :o Food photography is harder than it looks, i'm going to do a reshoot, only this time work cold so that the marshmallow don't lose form so quickly and that the chocolate doesn't melt. But the handle, does it matter that it's missing in one image? Do you want a bigger depth of field i.e. seeing more of the image sharp ? Would it look out of place in say the tesco mag recipe section? Sorry for so many questions but you do get hot chocolate :D:D

    Lovely pics.

I'm right-handed so I instinctively want to reverse it, I want the mug to be on the right with its handle on the right.

And I don't know about the spoon as it's mostly lost in the depths.

But I am a bit OCD as you can tell...

Agreed. The eye, certainly for right-handers, is drawn bottom left to top right across photos. And the spoon I think would work better if it were a tall glass and a long spoon, so more sticks out.

    Hi Westie

I've only done a bit of food photography and there is a lot of trial and error!

They look good. Personally I like the portrait image better but would perhaps pull the mug in closer and turn the handle into view. This would give you less 'dead' space to the bottom left.

Edit: or crop the bottom of the shot to take out some of the black.

Good points :) Seeing it online, think I need to open up the shadows a bit in the top image - it's looking a bit dark. Much of that might be down to resizing and compression.

There is a space at the bottom for a reason - trying to kill two birds with one stone and change it to an advertisement for the brand of hot chocolate. I've done the brand shoot, just need to layer it on top but the handle could still be swung round and use it as a diagonal  Thanks pacifica9

    Easily reversed in LR :D
Something unexpected happened which made me smile and still continues to make me smile.

  • I like the feeling of the space at the bottom as it feels as if you could just reach in and pick it up.

That's why I love photography. It's so subjective. Everyone sees an image differently.

That's the way I think, everything happens for a reason and he certainly isn't work shy. If anything he may work a bit too quick, my boss wants his patio repointing and said he would pay him a day rate and said I think it will take him about a week. Dd bf said he'll have it done in two days :o

He may have to make it last for 3 days!

You have made me go and make a hot chocolate!

This is really interesting:) I think food photography involves a lot of "cheating":)
I prefer the top photo. The spoon handle bothers me in the bottom one. If you need to use a spoon it needs to be longer and sideways on so you see the angle of it.

I like the colours and the sharp focus of the cup:)

Also one point each day for logging into epoints.

Thats not strange :D Hey TM, you should add some flaxseed to your smoothies, helps make the smoothie thicker and keeps you feeling fuller for long and contain healthy fats too :D:D

We have flaxseed in the house but I tend to throw in oats or bran:)

Hurrah. After 2 weeks my sister finally plucked up the courage to go to her local T's which is just 5 mins walk from her and came back with 25 up and go's . So I said what did you get with the overage. She said what overage. Turns out she's got 25 of the big up and go's and didn't buy anything else. All 25 vouchers scanned at £1.79, so all free. But she still doesn't understand getting the 10 or so other items yet. Not bad getting 25 in one shop though:eek:. Most I've done is 10 :o

    Ignorance is bliss:o:rotfl:

Sorry to hear about your experience sal:o
