A very large lounge with a massive inglenook, large doors to the back, and two windows to the front, I want two large sofa at 90 degree to the fireplace facing each other and a coffee table (that is as far as I have got).
The dining room, I like the idea of classy dining. It is rather too big for just a dining room, but I am going to be firm and make sure it remains a dining room.
The kitchen is massive, 9 metres by 15 metre with a sun room 4 x 5 off it (I think the measurements are right... but I am rubbish). It has two inglenooks, one for a wood burner and one for a cooking stove - the rough cupboard lay out has been decided as the pipes for the underfloor heating had to go in... but nothing else!
There is also a utility/machine room.....
I totally give up with the upstairs (I think I will just do our room...:D) The project has taken 30 years to get this far.... and I have run out of energy. lol:D:D:D
Now this is my favourite pass time...It has been alongside working since I was 22...How long ago was that...OMW...that long:eek:..Renovated three properties and built two ....My home now I have been renovating for the last 18 months...I had the roof taken off an old 2 and a box bedroom property whilst still living in it..I slept in the car for three nights before moving in to the house...:rotfl::rotfl:.. It was fun sleeping under the stars for a few weeks....:D...I grew up here, so it has a special interest and a very close attachment to me.....my grandparents and aunt lived here and in later life my father returned to live here too.......I've had an extension built to the rear....I now have four bedrooms, plus all the other bits and pieces to go with it.....
I had the living room carpet fitted yesterday...All the doors are finally fitted but I have yet to fit the door handles.....(What a job it was to find handles which I liked and at a reasonable quality and price)....If you are looking I can recommend a website where I purchased mine.....
I have the hallway and kitchen floors still to do together with the bathroom upstairs to tile...I haven't started the downstairs bathroom yet...Probably next year now.....but I am very close to completion now...I would say six months tops to finish and dress it up a bit....Then its just the garden to tackle...
I have a few ideas but would welcome any views what to do with a modest sized garden...going to put some raised beds for flowers in one corner and probably raised beds for the veggie garden...:D[STRIKE]68 [STRIKE]Mouses[/STRIKE] [/STRIKE]

How exciting. I love doing old/older houses up. We have did this for 10 years solid (in the 1990 and frequently could see the stars when laid in bed!... I think I am looking back a little too fondly, in 2 years we flipped 8 houses, then slowed down a lot). We then settled for the boys as they needed stability. OH is on his second self build and it is a lovely house in a lovely location.... but it is still a new build.
All the styles that I like really would not go, I love things made out of nothing (our current kitchen cost us £20 for wood for carcasses, £30 for doors (both from an auction) and £100 for a lump of wood OH found on dock... no one know what it was... after a lot of hard work it is my lovely iroko work surface.
I just need to get my head around new build and put my slant on it, whilst keeping my old furniture in the loved and knackered state that they are in (OH keeps telling me he will paid them... he flipping well won't be doing that).100 -
