I must say Ive been very impressed with the efforts made by everyone doing the October challenge - its been a very thought provoking month.
The key I think is having quite a well stocked dry goods store and a well stuffed fridge and freezer.
But for this you need very good suoermarkets which reduce things down to rock bottom prices on a regular basis
Also having lots of No Spend days also helps (and for that you need the well stocked larder and freezer and the generous stores) The less you go into shops the less you are likely to be tempted to fritter away money on things not on the list
Sometimes shopping is just a recreational activity rather than something you have to do from need, you just need to get it into your head that a better use of time is to find alternative things to amuse yourself with - cooking a meal from scratch, painting the house, having a good deep clean ....
I resisted a shelf of reduced soup cans in our local Sainsbobs yesterday and today it was 25p packs of jellies, trying to be honest with myself as to how and when we would actually use them. I did though find Magnums reduced in the freezer section and these i did get - my freezer is still an empty wasteland“Create all the happiness you are able to create; remove all the misery you are able to remove. Pretty impressed with the lads where ds2 and dd1 oh work on recycling. There is a competition in a paper to win a wedding and you have to collect 500 vouchers to get a golden ticket for a chance to win, one of the lads is engaged and asked them to keep an eye out and in a week they got 5800 vouchers for him:T:T. Shame it was not the most vouchers as they would defiantly win for him.0

Good evening Elite.
Hoping everyone is warm, happy and well. Hugs to those not so.
Started the day with 12 emails from LL saying they will save my orders for 4 more days, after which they will be returned to the warehouse and refunded. Crack on then, seeing as no points will be forthcoming!
Then had a day out with free cooked breakfast, free coffee from Greggs, free milkshake at Ed's and free lunch at Cafe Rouge, via Apps, loyalty cards and mystery shopping. And to make it complete, I finally found 3 x Dove travel sets! The SA was lovely and was so happy I'd got a great bargain! : )
Hope everyone else has had a similarly joyful day.
Is n t it nice when the sa s are happy for you unlike most of the ones in Asda here. I find the males are more easy going and don't think it's coming out of their pockets.
Noticed the Ed s diner in Chester has closed down all of a sudden don't know why.0 -
I've had a stew slowly cooking for most of the day....I just checked it and realised that instead of a spoonful of gravy granules,I must have added a spoonful of cocoa powder this morning...i's a little sweeter than normal so I'm now trying to balance the flavour out with red wine!
Tea tonight may be interesting ....
Oh, I hurt myself laughing!!! Chocolate is supposed to go with chilli?
I see that I am very late to the party with suggestions... Looking forward to finding out what it tasted like.0 -
Anyone else waiting to here about lejc tea. X0
