Morning all - nice and sunny at the mo. Having a cuppa outside watching our Cat in the long grass eating the stale bread I have just thrown out for the birds. Her premium cat food is sitting in her bowl untouched! She has actually dragged it to where her bowl is on the step now - thinks she might fancy a sandwich.:rotfl:

    Have a Good one x

Oh, the pound is now 1.201 euros. It was 1.213 early Monday evening when I checked. I believe that 1.17 is the point at which the UK goes from being the fifth largest economy in the world to the sixth. I shall be watching and, of course, posting the very second I find it is. It's my new special interest - I'm just finding the fallout and events fascinating and interesting to watch:o - but, actually, I've not been posting as not wishing to go on and on about it but really it is one of the most important (if not the most important) things to affect money-saving and should be one of the things that we are all interested in. If fuel prices rise (they have not done yet but I suspect 2p a litre will go on them sometime this week - although maybe the supermarkets have been overpriced and charging more than they 'should' so may be able to keep them at the same level for a little longer) and if food prices go up due to the increased cost of imports (a weaker pound etc.) - which won't happen immediately but I expect will happen over time - and we import a sizeable proportion of our food - then it will affect us all. Of course I am scaremongering am I not? Of course there will always be 'special offers' and loss leaders, of which we can take advantage, and may be other comparisons/glitches etc., that will be around and still available even if some prices may over time generally rise.

This is very interesting and something I can only just grasp so your explanations are very informative.
Who sets this figure against the Euro and does it ever change?
Which countries are then in the 4 above us? And who would we swap places with?
What effect would it have on the economics of the country we swapped places with - or the countries above us on the list?

I also wondered as I've not heard it mentioned for a while, are we officially out of recession? And how is this decided?

Another issue with having to import a lot of our food is that some things that used to be made in the UK have now gone abroad eg chocolate that used to be made in York now made somewhere in Europe.

Who? What? Is this in relation to something that I have missed?

Meanwhile, in other news, Roy Hodgson has resigned, but I think it's being overshadowed by other news at the moment. As, indeed, everything may well be for the next 10 years (I think this last comment is a bit dramatic though and it won't be literally at every period throughout that time.)

EDIT: I'm sorry (actually I'm not as I've nothing to apologise for!) but I'm just finding it funny - someone just now on the news "I think I should have given it a bit more thought". :rotfl: It would be funny if it wasn't so serious. However, given that's it sorted, I cannot help but find it hilarious when things happen that I was thinking would do all along, but people were saying would not and only watch at their own realisation now of the fact.

Ok folks, I am in need of some postive vibes and fingers crossing!

I had a test for a certain illness last week and today I have been asked to go back for some urgent blood tests tomorrow.

It is the same illness that FC has.:(:(

With you all the way Squigs.
