Part of the Furniture Combo Breaker I've been Money Tipped!
    Good evening,

Firstly before I start, please let me know if I upset anyone and I'll delete my post.
My dear, dear sweet baby 11 year old lab princess poppy is due to be put to sleep tomorrow:( to say I am devastated is in understatement. She has severe arthritis in her back leg. The vet has said that she is in pain (they actually said its one of the worst cases they have seen) but she has been on tramadol, metacam and ibuprofen. I just want outside opinions on whether I am doing "the right thing". While all these pain killers are helping her to some extent, she seems to be permanently sedated.
Sorry to ramble I am just so upset, I have never had to make a decision like this before and it just hurts so much. What if I make the wrong decision?

Hey, you aren't rambling sweetheart, you're spelling out you're distress which is quite normal and understandable. We are all here for you to lean on if and when needed.

Now, I don't want to sound harsh but , yes it's the right thing to do. No question of it in my mind. It's a poor quality of life at the moment and she's just waiting to go over Rainbow Bridge. Just let her go in peace and no more pain. I think you know yourself it is the right thing to do but it's so hard to actually say the words.

    Sending you hugs xx
There's no place like home :)

Feeling down? Weak in body? Makes no difference to me, I think of you all when I'm sitting quietly.

Hugs and healing thoughts are always going your way.

    Oh bless you.:A

You can't make the wrong decision....the decision you make will be the right one because you will base it on all the information you have in front of you. That's the easy bit. Your head telling you what to do.

Then you've got the hard bit....your heart and all your emotions bound up in 11 years of memories. :o I think you need to listen to the professionals and be the bravest you can be as it is a situation you can't prolong. You can't see your poppy suffer.

This may upset you even more nearlysorted. :( so sorry if it does

Before my Poppy I had 2 dogs a Jack Russell and an Irish Terrier Lucy the Jack Russell was my baby and she was poorly booked her in vets and on day cancelled it.

I have regretted that decision ever since. She went downhill rapid and I booked her in vets for week after and I have always said I wont ever do that again the time was right the first appointment and my baby girl suffered longer than she should have all because her loving mum couldn't let her go :A.

Only you know in your heart what to do and will make the right decision all I can say is please don't let Princess Poppy suffer more than need be . (((X))) nearlysorted

    Love a good romance story.

My 1st date with the Mrs was about 21 years ago.

Went to a fancy Italian kitchen on the Kings Road.

Mrs food was still frozen, not off to a good start.

Window shopping in the rain, should have detected the shoe addiction.

It got better, parked at Covent Garden, didn't pay any attention to where.

After an hour of walking around in the rain, eventually found the car.

The heating not working in the car didn't help.

Took 2 weeks for her to call me back :rotfl:

Hello Frequent. Long time so speak. :)

Lol at the finding the car, but didn't you think to call her?

I know you've been with your wife since that and I'm glad you've found happiness with your kids. Friends mate? :)

You know, you just KNOW that the time is right. Just ask yourself 'am I keeping Poppy alive for my benefit, or for hers?' You can tell that she is not your Poppy anymore, but she can't speak to ask you to do the right thing. The only thing that we can do in these circumstances, and take that pain away. You will grieve, but will have the knowledge that you did the right thing for her. You have given her love and everything she needs for all these years, and now it is time to do the hardest thing we have to do, we have to take responsibilty for their life, and in most cases, for their death. It will be a relief for her and she will run free over Rainbow Bridge, with no pain

I'm way behind you tweets, slowly, slowly for me lol.

I'm sorry you suffered tweets with that decision, it's a hard one to face because our pets are family and we don't want to lose them. I've been there myself and held my dogs head and front part in my arms as she slipped away. I was heart broken but knew deep down that it had to be done to stop the suffering.

I'm way back, several pages  was going to do catch up
