Hi, hope you dad is OK snap.

We had a phone call Saturday night well Sunday morning 12.15 to tell us that mil was being took to hospital with suspected mini stroke.
Nearest hospital A&E closes at 10pm I think so had to take her to a hospital over 20 miles from where she was.
And guess what, they did nothing, said nothing could be done as she was already on medication for strokes, and sent her back to the home where she had been for the last 8-9 months.
As far as strokes go, I think this was more than a mini stroke, right side of face dropped, right arm just very limp, but got some use in it, could only really say yes or no yesterday but that's slightly better today. But the confusion is no better. Really sad to see.

I'm not joining in on the October thing cause I know it's just impossible for us right now.
Back in September (16th) my eldest dd had a house fire, luckily no one was in, just the dogs but they weren't hurt, and the fire was caught early so not much damage only the cooker, so for 3-4 days a week my cooking for 3 of us jumps to 8 :eek:

She struggling with her money too as all her tax credits for her child care has been stopped, due to the new company that took over.
But she has had a letter of apology and said it is being sorted ASAP.

    Opps sorry to waffle

Don't be sorry about waffling, that's what we are here for, I done exactly the same last week-
I found it very uplifting with all the likes, comments and virtual hugs.
    Sending you big hugs x

how about rice pudding - its about £1 a bag, pudding rice - useful if the oven is on anyway and you can put jam or sultanas or stewed fruit or golden syrup with it.
Or old fashioned jelly - if there are just 2 of you then you only need half a pack and you can put fruit in it, fruit from the garden you have frozen down or chopped canned peaches
I think that you can also freeze pancakes - save some of the batter when you are making Yorkshire puds and use this to make pancakes ...
    some ideas anyway

Thanks, I think I will try the jelly and blackberries x

I fried garlic, and onions, mixed two of the tomato soups added coriander, as a pasta sauce, it was yummy!

Oh & Dad has had a mini stroke but refuses to see Dr as does not want to go back to hospital ever again :)

Snap I'm so sorry to read this, hope he will be ok. I can well understand the reasons he doesn't want to go back to hospital ever again, he should be checked though. Hugs to you X

On a happy note, I loved your holiday pics, very quiet where you stayed, no struggling to find an empty sun lounger :D
There's no place like home :)

Feeling down? Weak in body? Makes no difference to me, I think of you all when I'm sitting quietly.

Hugs and healing thoughts are always going your way.

I noticed the beer crate for £1 - I wonder how many bottles they hold? I am thinking that even if they just hold 4 then they would be good as Christmas gifts for the refuse collectors/window cleaners etc
Says it holds 6... seems like a good thing for adult male's Christmas presents.. I always struggle with those.

Trailing behind, as per :rotfl: :rotfl: I'm not likely to catch up this evening though

Soup and pasta, my lunch and tea today, I'm still off my food  not much that I fancy eating. I did think of joining you for Frugal October but I don't think it would go down well with dh, he likes his meat and veg every day and ds4 is a big meat eater. I do wish those of you taking part the best of luck in your endeavours

Evening mad squad, arrived home last night after my two week cruise, absolutely loved it! Had a bit of a nightmare journey home on the train though as another train had hit some cows and the train we were sitting on got cancelled.

Hope I've not missed anything too exciting.

    Free cinema - http://www.showfilmfirst.com/pin/431647

where did this cattle strike happen?

we were on the way back from Southampton one afternoon just got outside Banbury when the train made a bad noise and I looked at Oh and said that was something bad wasn't it?
the train had hit a herd of cattle that had wondered onto the track - fortunately we were far enough back to not see anything but later on there were vets with chain saws walking along the track.
Finally at 10 at night we were dragged back into Oxford, no air conditioning, no food or drink
It was too late to get anywhere further north than Birmingham so we decided to book into a hotel in Oxford - not realising the travelodge was miles outside so we got a taxi and then had to get a train in the morning, also delayed

    1. S DRug: tress worked, only got 2-cannot fit anymore in house
    2. S Drug: free patisserie gift with 2 selected skincare..so label instore says and i know its online too. My trout pout squad in my sd had put the offer labels up across the non reduced skincare but I tried it with 2 vaseline lotions RTC for 30p and the free gift works

    3. Deb's: the glitchy orders: 1 home delivery, I ordered a wall sticker(plus other things) and instead of the wall sticker I got a large bar of Cadbury. Chocolate !!!!!. Called them, replacement sent 1 day delivery and could I possibly send back the choc (NO). Replacement arrives, this time it is a wall sticker but the wrong one. Called again..return it to store for a refund(will you pay the car park charges..NO they said)
Went to store to click collect 2 glitchy orders and return the wrong wall sticker that would never be the right one. NO you can't have 2 £5 Gift cards because rules say 1 per collection. Rules say 1 per click collect order, I have 2 so 2 cards please (No he says) so if I collect 1 =1 card. Go ahead says I, when 1 order comes I get 1 card. I take all the over wrapping off to fit stuff in my bags. Sign for order, do return on the wall sticker that would always be the wrong thing (with the same chap), then I asked for my second order and 2nd card.......and then I asked him, after all this stupidity do you really think I have a good impression of Debenhams....

I used the live chat to moan about the coupon... gift card on the way!

I now need to complain again as they sent me the wrong towels!
