Morrisons Wonky Veg, Carrots 1kg 35p, Parsnips 500g 52p, Onions 1Kg 42p, Savoy Cabbage 44p , 2.5kg Potatoes £1.12
http://www.hotukdeals.com/deals/morrisons-wonky-veg-carrots-1kg-35p-parsnips-500g-52p-onions-1kg-42p-savoy-cabbage-2517028
I don't know, I thought about six months ago, the wonky veg. was getting us to pay the same prices (or sometimes more expensive) than the regular offer prices on the non-wonky stuff. It seems like their non-wonky stuff is now regularly more expensive - so it's all a marketing trick and targetting again:rotfl:!
"Normal" Parsnips 500g used to go down to 50p, 1Kg non-Wonky Onions were 29p around Easter (presumably a loss leader purely to get people into the store and to do their entire Easter shop with them - in other words probably the worst thing to do as you need to shop around in order to save money and buy everything from the best place, rather than putting all your shopping in one place and assuming the prices on the rest of the stuff in the store are just as good when they are not).
The Wonky Carrots are now cheaper than non-wonky ones from Aldi/Lidl; however with the price on the non-wonky Carrots in M having gone down recently (from 60p to 44p for 1Kg) the whoopsies on the non-wonky are now cheaper than what they tended to be when the non-wonky were 60p. So, I think it's best to buy whoopsied non-wonky carrots in M, as and when you can find some if you need them, on their BB date - they then last afterwards. We start to use stuff from the BB rather than up to that date:rotfl:.
The Potatoes at £1.12 work out a little more expensive than Aldi's 5Kg on Aldi's price increase. However, although I noticed earlier you weren't sure about them, I think the 12.5Kg unwashed potatoes, even at £3, are a better way to go. Unfortunately they now have see-through cut-out on the bags these days so are exposed to the air when previously they were inside the bag and I imagine could be kept fresh for longer - I assume may now need to be put into the fridge towards the end in order to prolong them (depending on how many you use).
It seems the 12.5Kg bags appeared in M generally on Thursday. They used to go down to £2 and I hope will again but, even at £3, they work out a lot cheaper. I'm holding on until tomorrow though, in the hope that they might go down from £3 to £2, a gamble that might not work as they could of course go the other way. They have gone up beyond £4 before:eek:! If they do, I will just get Aldi.
As for the carrots, I notice that Aldi do seem to like to do incremental price increases on essential items again:(, just like the essentials apples slowly crept up, rather than doing it all in one go, doubtless that little increases one after another will not be complained about as much even though the end result is exactly the same and, had it been done immediately, would never have been accepted!
The carrots are now 41p:eek:! I successfully predicted:( the price of the carrots before I went to Lidl, despite not seeing them online, on the basis that, as the carrots in Aldi were now 41p, the ones in Lidl will now be 41p. And, what a surprise:(, they are. There is no evidence of price fixing - it's simply that they need, like every store, to maximise profits and do that by not being underpriced compared to anywhere else - they simply cannot be cheaper, or at least not for long, unless that is being used as a loss leader to get people into the store and to buy far more. They therefore set to the same price so that they aren't more expensive so that people could go elsewhere and get it cheaper, but the same price instead so that people can't go anywhere else and get a better price from elsewhere.
It's no good - you can shop around but regular carrots (non-whoopsied) will be 41p at Aldi too, so you may as well buy from Lidl at 41p (or Aldi if you start off at Aldi and then look to see if you can get a better price elsewhere - of course this is all theory as not many people at all really do this with most items, not regular grocery items of perceived relatively low cost anyway).
I think best to watch for whoopsies:rotfl:. Mind you, years ago, 41p for some carrots would have seemed very good (particularly in the light of T and S for example, on 'value', at 70p) - it's just that much cheaper prices in the interim now make the prices seem quite dear! And Sains Basics at 50p for 1Kg now seem quite dear indeed.
Meanwhile, the 600g pears in A at 50p are not the good offer, in weight, that they might appear to some people to be: the 1Kg punnet of pears are now back at 59p in Lidl:T. But I think they may be bigger pears and therefore fewer of them than the 1Kg before:(. Maybe A putting its pears to 50p has brought that price in Lidl back sooner:think:.0 -

Snap - again! Is there something about you and me posting the same thing within minutes of each other?:rotfl:
(I've actually had this information for few days, but only just got round to mentioning it.)
I've noticed you've mentioned some fabric conditioner at £3.35 in Wilkos. If I may have a little quibble:eek: - ooooh... - with that. Bit dear isn't it?:rotfl::rotfl:
There's some 83 wash Lenor Summer Breeze on £3 in M which has of course already made it to the M list. I'd normally want 85 washes at £3 to trigger my price guide, but just took this as it is not far off.0
