So sorry 3Dogs, read your post and my eyes filled with water. Millie is not suffering now.

Our Lab is going downhill, it's so painful to watch, just wish I could wind the clock back 10 years and see her bouncing through the rashes at the bottom of the field, occasionally stopping and sticking her head up so we could se where she was.

It is so hard to watch it happening :( even harder when you've had them from puppy/youngsters. My problem is that in taking on older dogs now, this is going to happen more regularly. Millie was 10/11 when I 'picked her up' literaly at the boarders kennels, Berry Bear was 8/9 years old when I brought him from Romania 28 months ago, and already not good healthwise. Noela was 8/9 too when I brought her across 19 months ago, but luckily she is in good health. Actually Noela tried to play tonight, without Millie there to strutt past her with a low growl telling her who was boss and Mammy's pet ;)
It is heartbreaking, out lab come out of puppyhood last year (she was 13 years of age at the time!).... she started to refuse to run, and now often refuses to walk and needs to be carried home.... but strangely she reverts to a puppy when you open the car door as she knows she is going swimming!

They do recover as you say when it's something that they enjoy, like food, riding in car, swimming, whatever, but need long sleeps afterwards ;) But a lab, she must be heavy to carry home

Took me a while but I've found (in my opinion) the best words I can say to 3Dogs & Millie ♥

When I walk down the country lanes
I know that you're there too
    You're racing through the bracken
Just like you used to do
    The rustling of the undergrowth
    That only I can hear
I know it's just to let me know
    That you are still near
I feel you by my bed at night
Your warm breath on my cheek
But I know you will disappear
If I try to take a peak
So I just lie here quietly
    And be content to know
That in spirit you've come back to me
    And you'll never ever go.

    ♥♥♥

Saversue I really am shocked that the second hospital did not let you "settle" your mum in. Both times my mum was moved I was allowed to go to the ward with her and neither times was it visiting time. :(

Stay strong sue and I hope you own treatment goes ok tomorrow. x

3dogs so sorry for your sad news. Millie had a good couple of years with you, being loved and cared for. You have lovely memories of a loving little friend. Sending hugs.

    Thanks ♥

I could not carry her at all, but the boys/OH do.

I am going on a long walk tonight, so will leave her home as she will refuse and I would be stuck.
