When she came back she moved in briefly with me, then stayed with her dad as his place was more convenient for her graduate job, then within weeks she met the man she would marry and by Xmas she was engaged and moved into his flat and by March they'd bought a house.
Consequently when I moved, I ended up with a whole van full of her unsorted uni stuff as well, which got dumped in a spare room until such time as they got the house. I had about 10 months, I think, of living with an entire room full of DD's boxes - all in a house which DD herself had never occupied. It was like having the invisible woman in residence. I just shut the door on it in the end and ignored it. They visited now and again to cherrypick and ferret through boxes!
But when it went, in a van, again paid for by me, I made sure it all went. I added to it all her schoolbooks, photos and general stuff. It was received with pleasure, apart from my additions. She was most horrified by the volume of that and accused me of delivering her childhood to her in boxes!
its a very weird isn't it - the bit between them leaving uni and being fully fledged.
all 3 of mine will be in rental places for a good few years because of their work situations - youngest might be forever in rentals because of his low earnings .
eldest son is in the midst of getting his first flat with Gf and they showed me photos today - all modem and chic and minimalist - so there is no hope of me boxing all of his clutter and delivering it to him, they have no spare bedroom and little storage.
we spent a fortune turning the boys bedrooms back into one beautiful guest room but instead its a room for the storage of boys clutter which is likely to remain here for years to cone
a few years back he came back from 6 months in Iraq with numerous rucksacks of stuff and mementos, 18 months back he returned from serving abroad for 3 years to a uk posting with 8 rucksacks of kit  most of it still here or in the loft but he also has his stuff stored at 2 bases and at GFs current flat - so 4 locations and 3 counties
