Hi all. I have posted this on the 'in my home' board, but as the elite thread is full of such knowledgeable people, I hope you don't mind me reposting here :) (I do realise it is likely to get lost in the pizza glitch!)

If anyone can give their expertise on the following, I would be most grateful ....

We have noticed wasps going in and out of the fascia boards of our house. The wasps are going in at two separate points, about a metre apart.

    1. Does this mean that there are 2 nests, or just one nest that they are accessing at different points?

    2. Also, when it comes to treating it, would we need to treat both access points? OH can reach one of them (with a ladder), but not the other.

    3. Finally, as the access point is under the fascia board, and can't be seen from inside the attic, is there any advice on how to apply the powder to the access point? Even after shaking the container, hardly any powder comes out when it is pointing upwards!

As always, thanks for any advice and tips

    Hi buyitall,

The only advice I have been given about wasps nests is to set fire to them but i don't think that is going to do you any good. Hopefully someone more knowledgeable than me will be able to help you out.

You couldn't have timed it better scamps.

It is meant to be my turn to cook tomorrow night now that Mr TS is working full time again. He goes to Tai Chi on a Thursday evening. Guess what we are having for tea. :D

Although he says putting a pizza in the oven is not cooking he was expecting me to concoct something like he does. :o

Actually her was quite  10 pizzas have come in to the house, so  that he wouldn't choose a pud to have this evening, so me and DD chose what we wanted and I took the rest to the camping fridge in the garage. Do you know by the time I had played tetris moving stuff from the inside fridge to the outside one and went to sit down and eat my pud. He had eaten it. I had to traipse back out to garage and pick another.

Anyway I know we all like a stash pic. ;) Big :kisses3: from me Scamps for getting me off the hook tomorrow night. :D

We just had a nest treated by the council, it had a few access points. He said it was some sort of chemical that the wasps carry into the nest and that then kills the others in the nest, once the queen is killed the others will die off. As long as he is getting some of the powder in, it should have an impact but maybe slower if it is not much powder. I have to say ours had died off completely within 24/36 hours. Sorry I'm not sure about the shaking of the container, good luck.

Yep. No room in the freezers for any. No matter how much we eat it always seems to spread out again. :o:eek::rotfl:

Thanks, I have seen some scary videos on youtube for the fire approach. As we suffered a house fire last year :eek:, I don't think I'll be risking going going down that route :)

I know you can just leave them until they die off in late Autumn, but it is just above my bed and not far from the bedroom window, so my imagination is already running wild  I have told DH we need to sleep the other way around with the pillows at the bottom of the bed tonight. He is 6'3" so is not impressed that his feet will be against the headboard :D

Dinner, tea and liquids sorted :) and remember to get the free coke for the children from asda. Win win :j

I didn't know about the free coke but looks like I'm going to tesco now.

I've searched for cheap fridges and nothing tickles my fancy, the next question is do these pizzas taste ok? (surely better than Dr Os).

And are they freezable? as I have more space in my freezer than the fridge at the moment.
