Car insurance cancelled

  • [...] so their algorithms price you off the road.

Nice story, I hope you had fun typing it. It has nothing to do with Brightside's behaviour in presenting their decision.

They have cancelled my policy and repeatedly refused to give a specific reason.
Now you've just moved to a new area.
I haven't but there's no reason you should be paying attention to that.
This new area might be a hot bed of car crime. It might be an area with fraudulent claims coming out of its proverbial ears. Maybe drivers of your age bracket with your particular car have crashed loads. The 'droid' on the phone won't know. Wow I bet you really put a smile on some poor operators face their, how rude of you.
Rude. I asked her a question. She failed to answer it. I asked her again, she failed to answer it. I asked her again, she failed to answer it.

Who's being rude there? Me asking a question or the person refusing to answer it?
They are cancelling your policy simply because they cannot offer you cover.

Yes. I know. But they're giving me NO REASON WHY they've cancelled other than "Being unable to provide you with cover based on your new address"
This is not your fault, it will get cancelled and you will keep whatever NCB you've earned.

No I won't. I'm three weeks short of the end of the policy which would have taken me from 4 years to 5. I can apparently wave goodbye to that for another year. And if Brightside don't provide more than they have my prospective insurers have told me today I will go back to 0 NCD.
You do not need to mention this to other insurers.

Yes I do. The only proof of NCD I have is the soon-to-be-cancelled policy. I have to show prospective insurers that and tell them that it has been cancelled.
I literally cannot get over how rude I can imagine you being if you think you can call him/her a 'droid'.

I can't get over how rude Brightside are in summarily cancelling a policy without any specific reason and leaving me facing astronomic policies for a cancellation on my record and 0 NCD.

Obviously your feelings are what's important here though, so how about you just go somewhere else and talk about Teletubbies and kittens.

The people on the phone wont know why its cancelled, you can repeatedly but they can only give you the same answer.

Why don't you give them another call, ask to speak with complaints manager, and see if they can you cover for the remaining policy duration meaning as you've only got a few weeks left.

You're confusing not being given a reason with being annoyed at having your insurance cancelled. The new address is the reason. If you do need to tell future insurers about this cancellation being told it was because of the address is enough.

Its unfortunate you've lost your fifth year of ncb. Ask the insurer for proof of your ncb as none has been provided.
  • Oh my god you have given the reason it this absolute diatribe of rubbish you just replied with. YOU HAVE MOVED TO A NEW ADDRESS. Would you like me to get the teletubbies and kittens to come over and rub it in your face? You've been given all the information you need. Why don't you ask if they'll honor the extra year? You can explain to your new insurer why the other policy was cancelled. It will not put a black mark against your name.
  • Brightside policy ended yesterday.

    Aviva policy started yesterday.

Today I got an email from Brightside saying they had cancelled the policy in error and offering me a renewal (at a ridiculous premium because, of course, they don't want my business any more, and I've got no intention of ever dealing with them again.)
    Policy number [...]

    Thank you for your letter.

Your policy is set to cancel due to a system error as explained previously, I have contacted Ageas to ask if they will honour your No Claim Discount and I am still awaiting a reply.

The policy has not yet cancelled and due to this complaint we have been working hard to update your address on our new system which today we have been successful in completing.

Therefore, I am able to offer you a new quote with Sabre Insurance for an annual premium of £853.57 excluding any add-ons. This will mean a deposit of £89.25 if you choose to pay monthly with 11 installments of £89.27. The reference is [...].

If , however you choose to insure elsewhere I will contact you as soon as I receive an answer from Ageas regarding your No Claim Discount.

Please contact me by the end of business today 24th June with your decision as premiums may change.

    Yours sincerely

Notice, to all the angry insurer-apologists, they still can't send me ANY proof of NCD. Aviva ARE telling me I have 0 NCD unless Brightside provide something before 17 July.
