Windows 10 has installed itself without my consent

Having had help from this forum on another thread where I could not sign in to my Windows 7 user account, I managed to create an admin account and get all my files back recently.

Yesterday, I was horrified to find that Windows 10 has installed itself. The screen has gone black, I don't know where my start button is, and worst of all I have only one user account now, my guest account and admin accounts seem to have disappeared!

Can I go back to Win 7, or do I have to keep Win 10? How a I find my admin account and guest account?

The whole thing is different, so before I knew the menu at the top of IE, but I can't see this now.

The start button is in exactly the same position as before - the bottom left of the screen (assuming you have the taskbar at the bottom as it is by default).

The admin account is still there but it is hidden by default as it always has been. You probably have really no need to use it. Most Windows computer users will never need to use the admin account. You can easily set up a guest account in the accounts page of the settings, just as you could in Windows 7. Google for instructions if you are unsure how.

You can roll back to Windows 7 if you wish to. You have 30 days before this option is not available. Again, instructions are easily found on the web. The option is in the settings again if you want to look through all the options to find it yourself. I think it is the backup and recovery area but I'm not sure.

As for the top of IE, are you using IE? The default browser in Win10 is Edge. IE is still there if you want to use it though.

    Welcome to the club. :)

If you're not happy with the appearance of Win 10, you could always install Classic Shell, and set it to Windows 7 style.

As above. I prefer Startisback to Classic She'll but it costs a couple of quid.

There really isn't anything to fear from Windows 10.

All you have to do is

    Start
    settings
    update
on the left it says recovery

    then rollback to previos version
make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.

Thanks everyone for the helpful comments. I had only just got back into my account by setting up an admin account, as my own user account had become faulty and I could not log in. Fortunately, I then backed everything up.

I will try to roll back and see what happens, but it was a shock to see it had done this by itself as I always said no when it popped up asking to install Win10.

Did you click NO, or did you click the X to close the dialogue box?

I've travelled over 90 miles to my mum's house just to download W10 as my broadband has a speed of 1.8mb. Even so it's taken ages but at last it's up and working - and, so far, it's fine.

As my laptop was W8.1 I wanted to upgrade but have left the W7 notebook at home and will avoid W10 (if possible).

    Rollback looks simple.

Why would you avoid W10 if it all looks fine? Use it, then make up your own mind instead of what you heard. ;)

I have made up my own mind. Which is why I don't want my W7 solid state notebook to change just yet. It's the one I've had space problems with recently (and got advice about here) so am happy to let it be. No heavy usage of it.

So far all is good with W10 so I'm not a critic.
