Tell the council you suspect asbestos was used in the original construction.

    What resolution do you want?

But blackmail or not, how quickly do you want to sell? Because you seem to be the person it's affecting the most right now so you need to consider whether a point of principle is worth the loss of viewings/potential house sale.
Plus the possibility of a neighbour dispute to declare.
All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.

Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.

Yes I realise we are going to have declare a neighbour dispute .I know what you are saying re house sales .I am resigned to the fact I'm going to have to move it (not me physically ) ,I'm not the type to go through long drawn out court proceedings just to win a point .It's just really annoying that they have just made it unsightly for everyone around us ,and I think didn't have to be demolished .

That's why I was querying the size the building was .... If you are the person it is affecting most then it needs sorting one way or another. I would speak to the people who demolished it, if one is hostile then speak to the other - and find out whether they have a plan of what to do next. If there's isn't one, make one. You now realise you are in fact jointly responsible (which you didn't think you were beforehand) So make arrangements to jointly pay for removal, or if necessary pay for it to be removed yourself, if you believe that you are unable to sell your house for the sake of a few hundred quid on a grabber lorry load.

Unfortunately they are both hostile as they both are in the "see I told you so " mode. The only person who might help out is the landlord I've never met and I'll have to think on that .Thanks.

Do not confuse there, their, and they're. That would be a serious mistake.

They're is short for they are.
Their shows possession. It's just like my, his, her, and our.
There is a place. It's similar to here.
Unfortunately for OP it doesn’t make one bit of difference or change the fact that answer /solution given by you is incorrect... Obviously it makes you feel better so glad I could help both OP and yourself....

If 1 of the toilets was yours, and it was pulled down without your permission, then surely that is criminal damage, is it not? Threaten to report them to the police unless they get it cleared up?

Not really its same if neighbours works damaged house the police wouldn't be interested with a few exceptions arson etc they would view it as a civil matter..Remember they and others OP included are jointly responsible so threat of police is threatening themselves?, The demolition of the building becomes very clouded ownership ,responsibility etc If others have any brains or legal representation its going to cost far more than getting a skip in and having it removed to sort that out... Add disclosure to potential buyers there going to think twice before buying the home and no legal obligation to remove the rubble....

If I read it right, the demolishers came to you with the correct understanding of your joint responsibility and you didn't want to know at the time.

They responded to some 'official' notification to make it safe but presumably because all the other owners were refusing responsibility decided not to complete the job by removing the rubbish and left 'demolition' as their bit.

Now they've done it you don't like it and are suggesting some 'what ifs' that would have been fairer to the other owners even though said owners didn't want to know at the time.

I can imagine how it happened with everyone genuinely thinking 'nothing to do with me' but not of the consequences if one party decided to act which is what happened.

For OP, much as you feel aggrieved, if you want to sell, bite the bullet and get on with the removal. Maybe ask each of the other 2 parties if they'd be willing to share although seems unlikely.

There might be some legal rights and wrongs here but establishing what they are would surely cost so much more than simply getting rid of the rubble as would the 'official' dispute.

So look at the endgame - you want to sell. What do you need to do to sell and get on with it. Much better than a recorded dispute and something that will put buyers off possibly forever.

How much will it cost to remove the rubble?
Might be a case of grit your teeth and just do it...
