PIP - Change in illness

Hey guys,
I am currently in receipt of Employment Support Allowance and Personal Independence Payments due to suffering from Depression, Anxiety and Agoraphobia (Please note I have been awarded this until July 2017).
I have recently been diagnosed with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder after undergoing Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (which was ceased after around 8 sessions as the therapist advised that I need 'longer term care') and given further medication. I made the DWP aware of this as I was advised to be told that this could require me undertaking another assessment. However my illnesses have not changed and the new diagnosis is in addition to what I was assessed for initially and therefore I do not understand why a new assessment would be required.
Has anyone else had to undertake an assessment after making the DWP aware of an additional illness? if so, what happened?
Further to this I was also advised to make ESA aware of the addition of the new illness by PIP. However on calling them they said they didn't need to know and made no amendment to my 'file'. Can anyone clarify if I do need to make ESA aware?
Thanks in advance.

I did make the DWP aware when my disability got worse in November last year,I am in receipt of ESA support group and PIP and had to undergo another assessment for PIP.
The result has been that my care and mobility has been increased to Enhanced from Standard.0 -
What ESA group are you in?
What rates of PIP are you getting?0 -
They always send out renewals 1 year earlier anyway. Even though your award is until July next year. You'll soon be recieving that dreaded renewal, so i can't see it makes any difference. The same for me, i've got mine until August next year but August this year i'll have the renewal.Hey guys,
