Scottish Power rang me..

They got my details from woman who stopped me in street months ago, anyway..

I use EON for my gas, a prepayment meter. They said they can save me money and that they donate to cancer research on my behalf. How can they save money if its prepayment? Am I missing something?

The woman was very pushy and kept mentioning the cancer research

  • Prepayment meters have different tariffs for different suppliers and you could save a few quid by switching. They will all have different standing charges and tariffs. You can save a lot of quids if you dump the thing and get a credit meter and opt for a fixed tariff on direct debit.

Why did you give your details to a woman in the street?.

You've only got yourself to blame - if you give personal details to stranger what do you expect will happen. You are lucky that it's only Scottish Power who contacted you, others might have cleared out your bank account.

Consult a comparison site and see how much you could possibly be saving :)

If you'd like to give your savings to a charity of your choice, I'm sure you can arrange that direct to the charity concerned. Consider Gift Aid too, as that can often add 25% to what you donate, paid for by the taxman.
