Better couple of days emotionally but still no real progress I guess, a lot of ebay sales so spent the evening wrapping those, and today was spent at ballet shows. We're just discussing our options moving forward, mostly around my work really, do we move house and do up another one etc and clear our debts/reduce the mortgage with some of our equity? There are some lines we're willing to cross to clear the debt, some we're not, I guess we'll both be in a much better place mentally to make decisions once NIM is in his new job (2 days to go) and we feel like we have a bit of stability.
Got my tax return in last night, just need NIMs in now in the next 20 days so we can do our tax credits renewal.Debt January 1st 2018 £96,999.81Met NIM 23/06/2008
Debt September 20th 2022 £2991.68- 96.92% paid off0 -
Give yourself a year before making the v big decisions, you will be able to cope better when NIM is settled in a job and you will make progress when one regular wage is coming in.
And as you may choose to move EBay like crazy get rid of anything you won't want to take to a new place. I am pretty sure that if you did EBay like a home job you would earn more than Etsy and YogaBugs combined. It isn't the same as when you did this without children but you have all the tools to get out of debt. See if going back to the basics works and hit it from there. If NIM can't cope with thinking about money at present just concentrate on what you do know and get those moving down.
Good luck Dinah, you can do this.0 -
Good luck to NIM starting the job today. Is he excited? I'm sure things will seem a lot clearer when you have a regular wage coming inTotal (Aug 19):€58,567 Now:€26,947

Hope NIM had a good first day!
I have to agree with Tete in being  with how he reacted to money things. You guys are a partnership, and you pull energy out of somewhere to help your partner when they need you, not throw it on them and refuse to help out! Hopefully things will change now he's out of the house and feeling more productive and he'll cough up the card details.
tootallulah is completely right though, you have the tools to get out of debt and you can do thisYou've got us all here too!

How's everyone? Hope ye are all enjoying the beautiful weather!
How is NIM's job going Dinah? I'm with the others too. He can't just opt out of dealing with financial things. Life isn't like that. If he can muster up enough energy to start a new job and stick at it then he can surely muster up enough energy to help you with the finances.Total (Aug 19):€58,567 Now:€26,947

Hi everyone, can't believe I missed this group!
Hope things are improving for you emotionally and financially Dinah, sounds like things have been tough. It is really hard getting things done with kids around. Hopefully you will get some hours for Ben which I am sure would help.
Things are going well here. Work is good and have settled back in and the girls love the childminder which is great. She is taking some time off in September (rightly deserved) though which means i need to juggle days with my mum and ex to look after girls.
Poppy breaks up from school tomorrow, reception year done and had a lovely report. Heidi has just started taking steps and saying new words which is so cute.0 -
Hope everyone is well!
Always get worried when you start a thread and then disappear, Dinah
Preparing myself for another night of not sleeping, and it's not oscars faultOH is away with work, and there's been a steady stream of break ins, car toppings and firebombing this last month and my anxiety over it is through the roof with being on my own. Cannot wait to move now, I'm so glad we held off buying this place or we'd be stuck
Can't believe poppy is up and chatting, Wendz!0 -
I obviously meant Heidi not Poppy 😓😩0

Hope you are OK Cinny , sounds really scary.
It's crazy how quick they grow up, will be Oscar before you know it!
My last day of work for the week. Poppy has an eye appointment in morning then we are off down to my parents for a few days.0 -
Hope you are okay Cinny. I hate when my OH has to go away with work as I've such an overactive imagination I visualise all sorts of things happening to us. However, what is happening in your area sounds horrendous. When are ye planning to move?
The few days away sounds great Wendz. How are things with you in general? Is your ex able to help out more?
All okay with me. In work and feel a bit crappy but not crappy enough to stay off. Finally got under 19k with the debt. Am so sick of it now to be honestTotal (Aug 19):€58,567 Now:€26,947
