Dealing with the Stress.

Having looked at every thread in the forum I couldn't see a specific place for this, but as a lot of people in this section seem to be under stress it seemed the most appropriate.
How about letting each other know how we deal with the stress of debt? What little thing helps keep us going when the going seems too tough? I'm sure some of the 'old hands' have some really good (and inexpensive) techniques/ideas they would love to share.
Mine is a long soak in a hot bath every so often, using shower gel to get mega bubbles and a nice aroma whilst I relax listening to something that keeps my mind from worrying. Cost; the hot water. Benefit; totally de-stressed, and feeling too relaxed to worry about anything for an hour or two.
Any ideas on how to cope?

Going for a walk works for me (not a gentle amble but a full-blown striding walk) preferably out of my usual area - change of scene and all that. Come back with the-need-for-a-shower kind of walk.0

Mine would be sitting and watching a movie/reading a book/reading mse, knowing that I dont have to do anything for the rest of the day. Apart from that, I like to go out for a ride on the moped - thats usually quite fun and costs very very little in petrol..

Mine would have to be going for a walk or a run as well (in the opposite direction to the shops!!), it totally takes my mind off things for half an hour, helps keep me as fit as poss. and tires me out enough so I actually get some sleep. And it's free! Yay!***Still Need To Do My SOA***But this much I do know:If I wasn't here, I don't know where I'd be!!!:o0

hmm, got me thinkin now bkclive! lol.
i think i sit and watch sumat funny on tele when things get too much. its something i think we must do without thinking too much about. i dont ever think oh im stressed ill watch tele, i think i do it without noticing! u know what i mean?
sometimes when i get really bad i find a really good cry (usually when oh at work, cos it tends to be when im on my own when i start doing my thinking...) so ill sit and cry a bit then put something on what makes me smile. will and grace or a really old episode of friends! oh oh, or only fools and horses!!! or sex and the city. lol.

Hello bkclive.
A baths pretty good to relax, but its missing one key item. I find that if i have a good old tidy up, sort paperwork out etc, get everything filed and so on, then your mind is free from clutter.
Then I print out some of the MSE members storys and the responces they bring, its really moving, and helps you when your down knowing your not the only one, and theres fantastic people on this site to help you out.
You can't beat it, hot water, bubbles & moving storys.....why do we do it,
spending money we dont have on things we dont need

Some gentle actvitity like walking in a wood, or on cliffs by the sea (when I can get there ), away from the herding masses of people, just getting back to the basics of nature helps me shake off stress. For a few moments it helps to be away from all the material issues of every-day life and far away from the emotional clutter which does so much to drag us down. It also helps to reinforce in me the ethic that actually we need very few materials things to survive - just food, a roof over our head and shelter, and to remind me that all the other material things we acquire are not necessities at all, just things that in moments of madness we choose to acquire.0
