Hello
Just had an aerial fitter come and replace the main TV aerial, install 4x aerial points and a booster in the loft. Apparently this should also allow us to watch sky (which will be installed in the main living room) in any of the other rooms in the house - obviously only whats on the main TV, not other channels etc.
Hes left after completing the work and my Mrs didn't understand what he said in regards to setting this up with the TV's - hes now gone on holiday.
Can anyone help me with this? I'll ask him when hes back in a week if not but would ideally like to get everything set up ASAP.
Thanks

From what you've put, all you've got is the ability to watch different terrestrial programmes on different TVs in different rooms.
There's no way (that I know of) to watch Sky in different room this way.
If you had a dish with cables to different rooms (and multiple boxes) you could use this (and other methods) to watch sky in different rooms.:wall: Flagellation, necrophilia and bestiality - Am I flogging a dead horse? :wall:
Any posts are my opinion and only that. Please read at your own risk.0 -
I concur. The TV aerial is now connected (via a booster) to several aerial points. This will let you connect a normal TV with Freeview (and HD) and receive terrestrial TV transmissions. It will NOT let you receive Sky transmissions. (Unless what you've described is not what you meant).0

I haven't been present for the discussions of what was installed so I may be wrong. i will double check. Thank you for the information!0

Just got a quick message from the chap - All set up for the sockets to get terrestrial TV (unsure if this includes freeview etc? we do have a new digital aerial installed as well). He said "take the main aerial of the input of the amplifier and join it to one of the small twin wires . then put the other other twin wire on the input".
means nothing to me. I will get him back after is holidays if not but does anyone have any vague idea what this means??0 -
Aerial fitter has assumed that the $ky box will have a RF input for aerial and two RF outs with a modulator. That then allows an analogue RF 'copy' of the output of the box in fairly poor quality SD and mono sound to be tuned on sets connected appropriately to the $Ky box RF outs. RF2 out also can allow remote control of the box with 'magic eyes' if the box in the loft is compatible.
AFAIK $ky haven't done that for years but they DO offer an add on box to provide that feature if wanted. You will need to get one if you want the feature.
The 'twin wire' will run from the loft an appear behind the lounge TV location: one will be used to connect the aerial to the Sky RF input and the other to the RF2 output and 'return' to the loft.
Thus disconnect the aerial from the amplifier box input, join it to the aerial 'downlink' cable, and connect the 'return' cable to the amplifier input once the $ky box and additional modulator device have been installed.
