Npower threatening letters

In the last year I have received four letters threatening Warrant of Entry from Npower demanding I contact Lowri Beck to arrange a gas meter safety inspection.

When I phone Lowri Beck, they tell me an inspection is not due until September 2016. However Npower keep sending the letters even though I have twice asked them not to.

This is so annoying. Anyone know how to stop it?

If you have contacted Lowri Beck and they have not arranged the appointment have you still got any details - names, dates etc?

If so I suggest you write to Npower, setting these out, telling them to sort it out with their agent and then contact you with an appointment. You will consider any failure to do so and further such letters to be harassment & take appropriate action.

Here are reports of two successful (if not directly related) claims for harassment

    Hello jk0

    Thank you for your post.

It sounds to me like the date of the last inspection we have differs to the date Lowri Beck has. If you can please email me using the address on our profile page, I'll be happy to have a look into this with you and make sure our records are updated accordingly.

    Thanks

    Beth :)

  • Personally I would believe what Npower say, not Lowri Beck. I used to work for both companies and Lowri Beck are the most disorganised company I have ever worked for. All they are are Npowers meter reading agents for the two year meter inspections. This is needed because their own meter readers don`t want to be working out of hours and Saturdays. Lowri Beck ,(named after the two daughters of the two founders ) also now do meter fitting work also.
OP if its over two years since your gas meter was looked at, OFGEMs two year rule comes into play. Many people just leave the reading in the window on display somewhere for a visiting meter reader and that will do for many meter readers without a proper work ethic !
The letter you receive is not in itself a threatening letter its just that it includes a sentence explaining what MAY happen for people who routinely refuse access to see our meters.

Thanks Beth. I can't see any email address, and MSE says you don't receive pm's.

Regarding the last paragraph of your post, I've not had a meter reading done by anyone but me for 5 years.
Unfortunately the only way to have someone do it is for me or my wife to take the following day off work with no notice when we get home and find the 'you were out' card, which isn't something we can easily do. I leave the card and reading in the window, as I guess a lot of people will also do - I'm not refusing to allow them access, but I'm not prepared to waste my holiday time waiting for someone who may or may not turn up. Would I be considered to be 'refusing them access' ?

Switch to the old, green, forum skin to see the email address.
(and then complain to MSE that you have to do this as their latest, all singing, all dancing skin they set by default is neither singing nor dancing)

User CP>options>Forum Skin: --New masthead, fixed width (recommended)

No company reps have PMs activated on MSE.
