When we start out on the DFW trail we do loads of "big stuff" that makes quite a difference to our situation. These include having our lightbulb moment, cutting up the credit cards and cancelling Sky and the gym.
But once we have done the bigger stuff, we often feel that we are not making the same amount of progress, when in fact the small steps are helping us form good financial habits and helping us get closer everyday to staying in control and becoming debt free, or staying debt free.
Examples could be hanging washing out instead of using the tumble dryer or leaving your purse/wallet at home to avoid the risk of spending.
So be proud of those small steps, they really are important! :beer:

Hi SpekySquarehead and thanks for starting the thread! I did shudder when I saw your spin class! I know lots of ppl love spin but for me it is the very devil!
Hi to everyone else who comes along!
Let's see if I can get to the end of my post (keyboard still playing up. Not surprising as we have done nothing to rectify the situation!)
* checked banking
* made dgd's lunch - scraping the barrel today as we have run out of bread and butter!
* done a load of washing & will hang out. Pretty overcast here but think we'll get away with a largely dry day
* going to view an allotment in an hour. Must say it's a lot quicker than I anticipated! I only emailed the village allotment committee yesterday with a view to putting myself on the list, and potentially getting a plot next year but they've come back to me saying they have a plot available!
* spending the day with a friend. Was planning to go to the cinema and possibly something to eat but I didn't fancy a film when I woke up this morning. So maybe we'll just have something here instead...
* going to a spa with my bff this evening - yay! Picked up a mini bottle of prosseco last week for £2 and have just called the spa and they have a couple of flutes we can use
* water any plants in the greenhouse that need it
* make dinner this afternoon so we can all eat as soon as oh & dgd come home (5.30 and I'll need to leave at 6.10) Think I'll make a meatball pasta bake
* use up 3 things from the freezer - going to go and have a rummage before getting dressed!
Ok that'll do. Have a lovely day everyone xDF as at 30/12/16

Hi June Jubilatants,
Thanks for the starter Speky.
Slow start for me today. Really can't be smurfed with a long list but I have a lot of stuff that MUST be done today so I'm having to bribe myself at every turn to get on with it.
DW has a case of WifeFlu and will mainly be lying on the sofa groaning so it's all down to me.
Debt Free-Nillionaire Continuity Plan Year Two:
* Avoided doing some financial paperwork first thing this morning by tidying the garden. The Horrible Hedge of Hell was cut by hand while the neighbour was out before he passes comment on it. The roses are blooming so I bought one inside to adorn a vase. Did not employ a gardener to do it just because the whole neighbourhood uses one this morning doesn't mean we have to.
* Washing on line to dry for free. Please dry before it rains!
* Checked DW's online banking.
* Checked phone bill. Not pleased to see that I was charged for contacting theBritish Transport Police a couple of weeks ago!
* Checked credit card to ensure it was at £0.
* Checked Quidco and Nectar Points. Airport Parking has tracked.
* Totalled up how much we spent on holiday.
* Did RM Surveys.
* Postal voted on the European Referendum so no need to travel to the Polling Station.
* Advertised some stamps for sale on eBay.
* Opened all the mail we'd received while we've been away and dealt with most of it.
* Parcelled up a package to a relative in the Caribbean. Told her that it'll take forever to arrive as the quickest postage costs a fortune. She will just have to have it by Snail Mail. There's no way I'm spending £9 to post a £3 gift!
How about you folks?

I am job hunting, been short listed for a possible interview with one and have a call back on a second today. The latter is more hours and involves weekends though, so not sure how that will work with children/school and OH's work. Decisions! x
Edit: the latter has offered me an interview. The only problem I have with this job is the unsociable hours and how it will effect the children.... what to do!DMP Started June 20160 -

Congratulations MTC on being offered interviews. If it was me I would sit down and worked out the pro and cons for each position and then discuss it with OH as either will impact on everyone in the family. Remember to include things like commuting costs and time, school holiday plans, child care, facilities for you to heat your own food & drinks (saving costs). Not all of these may be relevant

Thank you Baileys Babe
I will attend the interview, find out if there are specific times and days I will need to work. If it's on a week by week rota, it won't work for me. I need a consistent routine for the children and childcare. It's a start though!
Been a busy afternoon for me cleaning and done three washes!
Wonder if anyone can help.... Every summer we seem to get lots of baby spiders in the kitchen. I was so worried a few years ago about a mother spider hatching eggs I literally tore the home apart but found nothing. Anyway we have them back again this year :mad: I don't like spiders but the small ones are bearable, just! UsuaLly they just congregate on the ceiling and I get a wet cloth and wipe them all away but they seem to be appearing around the fridge area this time. I have pulled the fridge out, gave it a good wash behind, extra scrubbed all the tiles, pulled out all the cupboards and cleaned them. Everywhere else is free of them, except the fridge door which seems to be their chosen area this year.
Any advice welcome!!DMP Started June 20160 -
Hi All
Killer day limping in now to say hello before I sag in a heap.
Had a letter yesterday to say our mortgage rate expires soon and will revert to SVR on August 13th. So have started a dialogue with the financial advisor about that one. Based on a quick squizz on right move we are the right side of 50% LTV now but with all the tightening up on lending that has happened recently it worries me about having to reapply etc. Anyway so thats now ongoing.
Had a meeting with the accountant and called an estate agent who deals with commerical lets. He said he needs to come out and do photos etc.
Other stuff from today
- posted 2 ebay sales off. Cost £7 so had put the right postage on
- Gave my carnivore son veggie pasta for dinner. I would love to claim some kind of credit but I just didnt have any food in and we were late back after parents evening.
- Checked banking. £50 up from ebay sales
Right off to collapse in a chair.
