It is a bit of a dull day but starting to brighten up. The builders have arrived and are starting to lay a new kitchen/ breakfast floor and preparing the hall for the same type of bleached oak flooring there.
It looks as if the actual fitted kitchen units won't arrive till tea time and appliances have already been delivered. DD has left me a parcel to return for her so will go to nearby post office later this morning and also get some salad and cold meat or fish for lunch from the small supermarket. I am quite pleased with myself that I have not resorted to the chippy or to things like pasties and sausage rolls and tried to low carb and eat fairly healthily.
It was lovely yesterday to have two dds popping in and I also got a phone call from the two other dds . Middle dd painted a second coat on two walls of the study upstairs and we have more bookcases arriving on Monday. I even managed to find a couple of home cooked frozen meals for her to take back home with her.

Morning all, I hope you are all well.
Hugs to those that are not.xx
Hester I hope your tummy settles and your loved ones feel better soon xx
Hilstep I hope you have a restful day and your pain relief works.xx
LaineyT I hope your mum is ok. It must be terribly difficult for her to revisit places where she once went with your dad.xx
Jackie I am another one who would appreciate your link. I would be happy to donate a humble sum to your good cause.xx
Today I got up early. DD has two A levels and has to sit in protected exam conditions because she has a clash of A levels and could leak exam info to those sitting theirs in the afternoon. She has to be chaperoned until her afternoon exam. She didn't sleep well so will be exhausted by the time she gets home. I am collecting her to save the journey from college. She already has an unconditional offer from her choose not university but still wants a decent result obviously. Good luck to others sitting their exams.xx
DS has too much stuff so I am in the process of thinking how to sort that out. He is always reluctant to get rid of anything. So I will either have to be sneaky or talk him around.
Rest of the day will be pottering around and tidying. I will do my Saul swish and swipe in the bathroom. Downstairs will have its daily Hoover.
I hope everyone has a good day.xxx“Love yourself first and everything else falls into line. Your really have to love yourself to get anything done in this world.” Lucille Ball.0 -
My new Gtech vacuum has arrived - thankfully the courier came really early.
I got it set up and working in under five minutes and am so impressed already. It's easy to fit together, just the upper handle and the battery to slot in, and easy to use. I've only done a little test area as I'm going out in a short while [STRIKE]and then heading off to Glasgow on a mercy mission to sort out Mum's PC problems, [/STRIKE]however I've used it and emptied the box - and it's brilliant.
As my Mum 'stole' my handheld I bought myself another one and am so pleased to see it back. So far a good morning. I'll take my unloved Vax to the recycling shop in Oban so it can be passed on.
TA - hesitate no more!
PS in edit -Mum's PC problems resolved over the phone. :j0 -
Lainey and Elaine 73 I have PM'd you
I had my wrist smacked last year for posting a link on here but if any of you are on facebook click onto my page which is Jackie Walder and see what my smashing DD Theresa has written.I am so lucky to have survived this awful disease when so many of my friends and family have not. I have lost both my ma-in-law,brother-in-law,sister -in-law and my lovely brother Davy ,plus my oldest friend and several other family friends. If I can do anything to help raise something to further finding a cure for it I will.We did it last year and will have another go this year.Sore feet is nothing to worry about if it helps cure just one person. Its time the this country ,and the world focussed more on saving life than losing it.next month there will be hundreds of people all over the country doing their bit to raise money. One in six people will at some point in their life come up against the big C which is a dreadful statistic. So anyone who helps or donates thank you soo much ,sadly one day 'it could be you ' Please god it isn't though
Thank you everyone

Evening all,
just popped on briefly to say how much I admire you Hester and Hilstep for handling what rubbish life has dealt you with such grace. I'm sure I wouldn't be as strong as you two ladies are in such adversity.
A quick recap on my situation. I am staying with hubby and the dogs in Devon. Originally hubby wanted to pay off his car loan with his savings but decided he wanted to spend the summer down the caravan instead. I said the whole summer was too long so we compromised ... 2 months. He has taken 2 months out of work. The plan was to spend the two months picking up a bit of part time work to tide us over. Even if it paid the site fees he would be happy with that.
Three days or as long as the sun shone all went well. Youngest was still working away but without his Dad beside him on the building site. Anyway, within a short time of him being on his own a campaign was set up by several of the workers. Bullying I think they would call it. Graffiti written all over the toilets, site walls saying awful things about our son. He sent me pictures of what had been wrote and it was safe to say that it was all written about him. Seems like, as his Dad isn't popular on the building site and his Dad can defend himself and his Son was the weakest link, it was easier to take it out on him.
That was handled expertly by the management who had a site meeting and work started afresh for him on Monday. This morning I got a message from him at work. His hayfever is really bad and the medication he is taking is doing nothing. Hes tried all sorts of tablets, nasal sprays, eye drops, Vaseline and nothing is working. So the hunt for someone who will give him the kenelog injection. He tried to get a temporary GP where he is working but he would have to make an appointment and they couldn't see him till Thursday. So he drove home to his GP who wont give him anything. He is now sitting at a walk in clinic at the hospital hoping they will take pity on him.
Meanwhile, hubby has been job hunting. No shortage of work (minimum wage) as an electrician but he doesn't want to work as an electrician and only wants part time work. Jobs he has been offered are for the whole season or on a full time basis.
Hubby wont hear of coming home. He wants his 2 months at the sea side and I just want to scream.
But apart from that, things are going swimmingly.:rotfl:
I think I must have been really naughty in a former life.

Evening all!
Have been missing on and off as life seems so busy. OH, DGS2 and I are off to London on Friday for DGD3's communion on Sunday, back Monday morning. Having trouble with printing the boarding cards but will bully my printer in a bit and hopefully sort that.
OH and I went to town for short time yesterday and came back to find DD3 in living room, she decided to take a quick trip to see us all and attend a friend's wedding in Killarney on Saturday.....couldn't believe it, such a lovely surprise as she is 18 weeks pregnant and did not expect to see her until we go over in December/January...think that she was feeling a bit lonely and emotional and she had not seem DD4's girls, who decided that she was something exotic and just stared at her!
Both DDs dragged me shopping this morning and I ended up buying a dress, jacket and pair of shoes at their instigation, so am now all set for my weekend.
Rain and more rain is the thing these days, its not cold, but I hate rain.
We had ham and cabbage with real new potatoes for dinner this evening.
Hugs and good wishes to all who are in need or want of them.
Jackie O would like to donate to your cause.
