O/S Daily Tuesday 14 June 2016

This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” is fine.

Morning everyone

Birthday wishes to those celebrating a birthday, hope you have a great day x

Hugs and get well wishes to those that want/need them x

Now light, very cloudy and overcast, looks like it’s going to rain, loads of laying water.

DH up and gone to work stupid early. DS1 now getting ready for work. DS2 still in his pit as he’s on study leave and doesn’t have to go in to school today. He went into school yesterday for revision lesson, as told by the school that he HAS to attend and he was the only one who went in, he was less than impressed but I said to him hope he made the best use of the teacher as he had 1 to 1 and we could never afford to give him teaching on that basis, and he did say it had been really helpful, he has another revision session on Wednesday and he will be going, (I'm at work at the time he needs to go, so can only hope he will attend).

Dinner last night was pork loins, sausages, mash, cauli in cheese sauce, carrots, peas and gravy – I’d bought 4 small pork loins for DH and myself to eat whilst away at the weekend but as we didn’t go they needed eating up, I’d also bought a packet of sausages to leave for the boys, but they didn’t get eaten as there wasn’t enough of either for a proper meal, it seemed best to cook all of it and each person got 1 x pork loin and 2 x sausages each, it worked really well as I got a telephone call from DH to say he was going to be late home and for us to have our dinner before he got home, so I plated his mash and veg then was able to cook his pork and sausages separately for when he got in. Tonight we’re having fish, chips/jacket potato, beans/veg, there’s a possibility he will be late again tonight, but won’t know until later.

Work yesterday wasn’t as busy as a normal Monday but that was just as well as we spent most of the day again without the part of the computer system that we use the most, so we were very limited with what we could do, the weather here yesterday morning was awful, and just continuous heavy rain, we weren’t surprised we weren’t busy, but by lunchtime there was breaks in the weather and we started getting busier. We’re expecting to be busier today, we’ll see.

Keep safe and well x

Good morning everyone. Thanks for the thread nmlc.

Seems bright outside again after the rainy day yesterday.

Today I'm taking another patient to the hospital though this time it's the local community one in town. I'll get a washing done and out on the line before I go.

Enough for now, need a cup of tea.

    Happy Tuesday.

    Morning all

AArrrgh, bad night last night with an upset stomach, probably stress induced! So much carp going on at work, hubby still struggling with depression, DD struggling with her bipolar and trying to declutter the house!

Still, onwards and upwards, tomorrow is another day, I just have to get through today.

I've finally found a home for my slow cooker, I'll deliver that today, along with some stuff for the CS.

I cleared the study yesterday and rescued a lost dog, well DD2 found her, then I found her owner.

This evening I'm doing the cupboard under the stairs, who knows I might find Harry Potter.

    Have a good day everyone.
    Hugs Hester

    Morning All

A bit brighter this morning, the towels are on the line already. DW emptied and jellies made for the coming week. (Having sugar free jellies in place of something sweet, ie, chocolate!).

Went for a swim after work, it wasn't as busy as I expected, came home for a shower and walked down to Ald! for some veg, the fridge was bare! Cooked a chicken breast and lots of green veggies for tea and was so full.

Meeting friends after work today for dinner, the place we go to does a lovely chicken and bacon salad so I'll look forward to that. My friend who was undergoing breast cancer treatment has finished her chemo and is awaiting her radio treatment so we are having a small celebration.

Hope you all have a lovely day. Take care. XX

    Hi everyone,

Thanks for the thread nmlc X

HH - sorry you had a bad night. Not surprising given all that's going on. Take care xx
    Camelot - enjoy your lunch

I had a good nights sleep which was much needed. I'm off to the gym shortly - I find it helps when I'm feeling low. Thanks everyone for your good wishes. Compared to lots on here, I haven't much to complain about - just need DH to find a job really.

Didn't go to SW last night as I'm now at target. DH and I watched the final two episodes of Luther from series one. Love Idris Elba :) and I finally caught up with Corrie yay!

    Have a good day all

Good Morning chums another busy day ahead.Hosting the U3A coffee morning at the local Dobbies this morning and quiz night tonight. Sis -in-law arrived for lunch yesterday, and we had a good long natter and bless her she made another donation to our Race for Life next month.Doing really well this year, and I am really pleased as I have had donations in my late brother Davy's name, who sadly died of leukemia last month. People are so kind and a time when cash for a lot of folk is tight.

The weather isn't looking too bad at least its dry.
DGS Ben came with a lot of stuff for me to store in my conservatory until he goes back to his new student house next term.Mostly boxes of books etc so its not taking up much space thank goodness.
Right time to get a wriggle on, I have to pay our holiday house today so my bank account will look aa bit thin for awhile :):):)

    Have a good day everyone
    Cheers JackieO xx

    Morning everyone,

Very, very wet here so we might well stay put this morning, it is forecasted to brighten up this afternoon.

Went to Wells yesterday and very much enjoyed looking around the cathedral, it is a beautiful building and we admired the architecture immensely especially the fan pillar effect in the chapter house, stunning. Loved the Knights clock, one has had his block knocked off for nearly 800 years! We couldn't get in at first as there was a service going so had a look around the Bishops Palace and gardens, again beautiful but no wonder the peasants revolted considering the disparity in living accomodation :(
This is a bittersweet holiday for Mum as she toured the area on a number of ocassions with my Dad, she told us to look around without her and just sat quietly in the cathedral, absorbing the serenity. After 54 years together I know she still misses him terribly and can only offer comfort when needed.
As I have said previously the cottage is beautiful but as the days go by have cometo realise that there is a lot of style over substance going on, the chairs and sofa in the sitting-room are beautiful but not so comfortable. Funny, as the owners obviously use it a lot as well as a second home, perhaps they prefer it that way but can't help but think it's been lifted straight out of Homes and Gardens :)

Anyways, my tea is getting cold, have a good day everyone, take care folks x

JACKIE forgive me for cheekiness but would it be possible to have a link for your just giving page, would like to sponsor? Thank you x

redruby - Congrats on passing the course!!
Coxy - Oh my! How amazing is Luther?! Loved it. Just not enough episodes.
Jackie - Well done on raising funds for such a close cause. Keep going.

Yesterday I was treated to a lovely dinner as my GF got 40% off, so her father paid for everyone. A lovely monday evening treat.

Today will be a hard days work followed by a tough gym session with my friend tonight, which I'm actually really looking forward to.

Annnnndddd just as a write the above, he text to cancel. Dash. I'll just go myself.

I hope you all have a lovely day today.
  • Good Morning everyone, cool grey and breezy here today but as of now not wet! He Who Knows is out with Cookie and I am definitely not 100% I think I have some sort of a virus that is giving me a very uncomfy and burpy tum, not nice so I'm doing a 24 hour fast to see if that helps, I hope it does!

LAINEY glad you got into the Cathedral and saw the clock, Wells Cathedral is a beautiful building I love the carvings all round the entrance and the Bishops Palace and gardens really are lovely, especially the wildlife on the moat! My nicest memory is of DD1 and the choral society singing Evensong there having done a series of concerts in the Cathedral over the course of a week, the accoustics are superb and we sat in the choir and were enchanted at the beauty of it all, the stuff of happy memories!!! Hope the weather cheers up for you, the next couple of days should see better things coming along but I expect you'll be going home by the time this unsettled period passes, enjoy the break anyway!!!

Hope everyone has a lovely day, Lyn xxx.
