Insurance and rising water table

My village is on a hill. The area (including the roads and a few of the homes) flooded last week due to really heavy rain. I'm looking at renewing my insurance but everywhere seems to exclude flooding by rising water level tables. There is no river etc nearby. I didn't flood and neither did anyone in my part of the village but I'm really worried about getting inadequate cover. Can anyone advise whether flooding caused by heavy rain rather than gradual increase in levels would be covered? Thanks all.

Yes sudden high rain totals causing flood would be a flood claim.

Rising water table floods can be claimed under flood peril as well, but with the exclusion on policies it can become an argument. If you visit the FOS site to search, you will see they have information on how they look at rising water table flood claims.
The comments I post are personal opinion. Always refer to official information sources before relying on internet forums. If you have a problem with any organisation, enter into their official complaints process at the earliest opportunity, as sometimes complaints have to be started within a certain time frame.
