in Credit cards
I received a text from Lloyds on Saturday saying they had slashed my CC limit from £3550 to £500:eek: Its fair to say I was shocked and surprised.
I immediately checked my credit file and found all was okay so I filed an online complaint. I pointed out my management of not only the Lloyds card but all my other ones as well, as well as savings held with LBG and both personal and business accounts.
They rang me this morning and checked some details and asked if I would object to a credit search being done, I agreed. They came back and said there was no need for a search as they could see from my LBG accounts that there was absolutely no issues with any of my accounts or the manner in which they were run. For some reason the computer had lowered my limit but there was no reason for it.
They immediately restored the limit back to £3550 and as compensation for the inconvenience caused as well as apologising they paid £100 into my current account.
So if you are sure there is no reason for a limit decrease out of the blue, it is always worth asking the question. Maybe the CC companies may be better served having people check before the computer deciding things.
Another £100 into my holiday pot and some decent customer service for a change.

I took a guaranteed offer Lloyds 13 months 0% fee-free BT card just over a year ago with a £10K limit. Within 6 months of making minimum payments they wrote to me expressing concern that I wasn't paying enough off, and as such they were reducing the limit by a massive £250 !!
Fast-forward 7 months (whilst still making minimum payments) and I've repaid it before the 0% expiry date. And now they want to both increase limit by £3K and give me a BT offer of 0% for 23 months with a 3% fee.
Computers eh!
