Tom Howley Kitchens - AVOID!

Really disappointed with these people. We placed a deposit with Tom Howley and the designer told us repeatedly it was refundable. We also checked with his colleague. We then changed our mind, which we had been assured was fine, and requested our money back. We not only didn't get our money back, but they also ignored two further emails asking for it back. Only when we telephoned did they say we couldn't get our deposit back as they had made drawings. Needless to say, this was never explained to us. The designer also told us he never said the deposit was not refundable when we checked so many times it was. I feel cheated.
Guess there's nothing we can do though as it's his word against ours.

How did you pay? If you used a card you may be able to try a Chargeback, although the one word against another may make it problematic.0

Did the receipt say anything about whether the deposit was refundable or not.
If it didn't, then you might be able to come with some agreement with them (ask for drawings, pay some cost for them, but even this might not be necessary unless it was already agreed drawings would bear a cost).
I'd speak to Trading Standards or the CAB. Or even a solicitor, given the amount involved.0 -
OP doesn't say what the amount was ... I guess you're presuming it was significant?
OP - what do you have in writing from them, and what does it say?0
