in Credit cards
Most credit cards charge like wounded rhinos for purchases made in local currency. My Halifax Clarity card charges nothing, which is great, but The Halifax hates customers and never answers the phone. Does anyone know of any Cr card Co that gives good customer service and free exchange costs from local currency to sterling?

Nationwide Select Credit card, albeit you need to hold one of their 'main' current accounts. You get the Visa wholesale rate with no commission.Ethical moneysaver0

That's not been my experience.John_Shepherd wrote: »The Halifax hates customers and never answers the phone.
The Creation 'Everyday' and the MBNA 'Everyday Plus' (Amex) are alternatives for fee free overseas use, but I cannot vouch for the quality of their customer service.Evolution, not revolution0 -

But I've had some of the worst customer service from Nationwide. It's all anecdotal.0 -
What are you phoning them about?John_Shepherd wrote: »Most credit cards charge like wounded rhinos for purchases made in local currency. I have a SAGA Visa card that I use for all my overseas purchases. It's operated by Allied Irish Bank. They don't make any foreign transaction charges, you just pay the Visa exchange rate on the day. Whenever I've rung them the customer service has been good.
No cashback though, so I never use it in the UK.Optimists see a glass half full
