Spots on Chin

Afternoon all,

A quick question on behalf of my sister please!

She keeps having break outs of spots on her chin, the rest of her face is fine. She uses a scrub twice a week and an astringent daily. Her diet is fine, non smoker and non drinker.

She is getting stressed with these constant break outs, the spots are always the under the skin painful types, not the ones with the heads. Looking online it might be hormonal, she is on the depo jab and has been for years.

Any recommendations on products, money isn't really an issue if the product comes with good recommendations! Considering Dermalogica and Elemis.

Any personally recommendations would be great!

Thanks,

Not being funny but is she doing something different with her chin than the rest of her face- eg plucking the odd hair?
This would mean spots were possible hair regrowth and should affect how she prevents them

In the meantime Johnsons clean and clear advantage spot treatment would get rid of existing spots within 24 hrs

Asked her and no she has never plucked a hair or done anything different. Many sites she's checked seem to suggest spots in different areas of the face are usually caused by different problems and chin spots are related to hormones apparently. She's going to check next time she sees the nurse. Thanks.

I sit at a desk, then I rest my chin on my hand. So after a while it gets sweaty etc, then I get a few spots on my chin. Could it be something like that?

Is it possible she drools in her sleep? Or rests her hand on her chin while doing something else?

I'm finding La Roche Posay's Effaclar range quite soothing to use, and it's easily available and not too pricey. You could try Googling skincareaddiction/skincareaddictionuk for a whole raft of suggestions.

Chin spots tend to point to a hormonal issue, although not always. Might be worth mentioning to her GP. I have PCOS and have suffered from acne (mainly chin) for 15 years.

I have also tried all sorts..high end products (including Dermalogica which didn't do anything), cheap basics, antibiotics (both tablets and cream). I even tried a Clarisonic brush.I found a product range, in particular the cleanser, which has literally changed my life. This may sound dramatic but I have spent so much time, money and tears on ridding myself of the dreaded spots.

The cleanser I use is this:

You can also buy a trial size to see if it suits first. I recommended it to my friend who bought the trial size and she text me the other day to say she had ordered a full size because it is amazing!

Here is a link to an old thread of mine where I was so down and desperate regarding my acne:

Here is one a year later that I posted after using Paula's Choice for a few months. Hopefully these will show you how 'I have been there', so know what I am talking about.

    I hope she finds a resolution.x

Every time I have had spots on the chin and jaw line it is been a hormonal issue. The last time it happened the only thing that sorted it out was going on the pill (I was having other issues too).

I used to get these spots a lot - they are under the skin, large, 'blind' and sore to the touch. More like a heat-bump than a spot. I started having regular facials and the therapist used to call them 'stress bumps'. She might have been right in my case, I was in a very stressful job at the time. It might have been hormonal, too, I was on the pill also.

The regular facials helped - it might simply have been they were so relaxing, a good de-stresser. Part of the treatment was 'high frequency' and that, I am convinced, did wonders to prevent outbreaks of those awful chin spots.

Taking vitamin B5 can help prevent spots. The larger the dose the greater the effect. If you search you should find lots of references to it. Start with a smallish dose of 200mg twice daily and see how it goes from there. You can buy it in capsules/tablets and cheaper in powdered form in larger quantities if she finds it works well.

I find Origins Spot Remover very good esp if can 'catch' them before they come up.

Also using a scrub is only going to irritate the spots. Maybe she could try an acid exfoliant instead. For a cheap one use B by Superdrug Glycolic acid cleanser. I spend loads on skincare but this really has worked wonders and was less than £7.

Thanks for all the great replies and advice, I'm going to send her a link so she can read herself.

    Thank you all.
