Sealing a shower
Zola.
Some of our shower seal has become a little black in places and hard to clean off. I think I better just remove the seal and redo it.
Any tips for doing this?
Am I right in thinking you cant use the shower for a full 24 hours?

My apologies as I was hoping you could give me sone tips. Mine is the same & I've tried resealing it unsuccessfully as I can't manage the sealant & I now have a bit of a leak so good luck - I think I need a plumber0 -
I've recently resealed my bath as same thing was happening, going black and starting to peel.. got to be similar.
Got the Stanley knife out and cut all the old stuff ou, and made sure no little bits stuck to wall and then as we had a bit of a gap I put one of them quarter circle edging things down to make sure the gap was covered and then filled the edges with silicon.
I know with a bath you've got to make sure its got water in to seal (which I forgot the first time.. and had a bath and it all came away so had to re-do!!), not sure what you do with showers?
Definitely recommend getting the mould resistant silicon, its bit more expensive, but seems to stop the black-ness (from prev experience)
Leave how ever long it says on the tube.. think usually 24 hrs.0 -

How ever hard you try to trim of set silicone some still remains.
Treat it with a silicone removing agent, about £3 from ebay before using mould resistant sil. Any other action will likely damage surfaces.I like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.
Will the grammar and spelling police respect I do make grammatical errors, and have carp spelling, no need to remind me.;)
Always expect the unexpected:eek:and then you won't be dissapointed0
