Snagging on a new build

Hey everyone,
I'm due to complete on a new build flat on the 24th with Barratt Homes. The solicitors received notice for completion last Friday and I'm going for a new home tour next Monday.
I want to get the property snagged to check for issues - Barratt's year end is the 30th so I'm mindful they are probably in a rush and will therefore be likely to cut corners.
Does anyone have advice on the dos and don'ts? Is anyone able to recommend a good company to use? I'm buying in Kent by the way.
I contacted the sales office today, and they said they will not allow anyone to inspect the property before completion as work will be ongoing up until then. Is this normal?
Thanks.

The builders don't usually let anyone on to work on the site until after completion and it's mostly down to insurance reasons and CDM regs relating to construction sites. I'm personally planning to book a snagging survey on my new build as soon as I complete. It's helped by the fact that I'm actually not moving in until September due to work commitments overseas so my plan is to get it snagged before I move in.0
