O/S Daily Thread for Monday 13th June

This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” is fine.
Chin up, Titus out.

    Morning all
Hubby and I have a cuppa, the fish aren't awake yet so I'll feed them after I've showered.
I'm just getting DGS's school uniform ready to take round , I'll help with the school run and then start work. Hubby is on the late shift again this week, next week he should be on earlies which I prefer.
    Have a good day everybody
    Hugs Hester

Morning everyone. Thanks for the thread HH B

I think there's been overnight rain though the sky is bright now.

Today I have to do some online student checking and trying to get some on the phone to see how they're doing. I'm ready for the excuses again.

I cleared up the final bit of mess from yesterday's kitchen disaster and put my soaking wet trainers in the back barn to dry.

Another Monday, time is flying past this year. I hope everyone has a good day.

    Morning everyone

HH - thanks for starting us off x

Hugs to those who want/need them x

Happy birthday to those with a birthday x

DH up and gone to work stupid early. DS1 now getting ready for work. DS2 still in his pit, will wake him shortly but he doesn't have to be in school until later, he's now just got revision sessions, and will be finished school on 27 June.

Now light, but very wet underfoot with loads of laying water, it rained several times during the day yesterday on and off, then it started raining properly - a really heavy downpour early evening, it's cloudy and overcast this morning, with more rain forecast.

Dinner last night was omelettes and salad, we went to mum and dad's and had bbq yesterday lunchtime, I made and took dessert which was cheesecake and fruit kebabs, we had various salads, and various meats - lamb, chicken, burgers etc, we managed to get some of the food (chicken drumsticks) started in the main oven, then finished on the bbq, makes sure they are cooked right through - food was nice and not burnt - which so often happens with a bbq. Food tonight will be pork loins, mash, veg and gravy. I will need to stop off at the SM on the way home from work as I don't think I have enough cooked meat for the pack ups for the week, I cut my shopping down, thinking I could readjust other meals but that hasn't worked out with us not going away as planned.

Back to work today, hoping for a busy day.

House looks a bit of a mess as we're getting items out to sell a the yard sale next weekend, but I find this the easiest way to do it, otherwise we're running around on Friday night and are not prepared at all.

    Keep safe and well x

    Morning All

Hope you've all had a good weekend. It has rained here on and off all weekend but I did get the washing dried outside yesterday so not all bad.

Didn't do much myself, went swimming a couple of times and caught up with some TV. Been for a walk this morning, my hip has been really sore for a week or so and walking helps to loosen it off. I also need to shift some weight, saw a photo of myself yesterday and my tummy is huge! Trying to low carb again, the BSD didn't really suit me with all the nuts and yogurt, ended up with tummy ache but will do the green veg bit!

Have a good week ahead. Take care. XX

    Morning :hello:

Lainey I didn't realise you were on holiday! Cheddar is lovely, if you're stuck for something to do on a rainy day it's well worth paying to see the caves. Jacob's Ladder is worth the hard work, the view at the top is amazing.

I suspected but wasn't sure, but am now! that Scampi's fear of wheels coming towards him on the path (including pushchairs, wheelchairs, mobility scooters, kid's scooters) came from being shoved along by a pushchair when he was younger. He's improved with most things but not pushchairs, he's still as bad as the day we brought him home. I came across a broken, abandonded pushchair the other day and started to walk towards it. I couldn't get closer than about 15' without Scampi's hackles going up – flat fur to mohican in a split second, from neck to tail – and growling and snarling. Tried a few times with treats and distractions but it made no difference. The pushchair is gone now so I've lost my training aid, lol. My mum bought a small pushchair for when she looks after Little Mate, it hasn't been used for a while and I thought she'd got rid of it. But she still has it and is dropping it round tomorrow so I can use it to (hopefully!) get Scampi over this fear.

Mr tru is back at work :j House to self during the day, calm dog, neatness, routine and peace. Bliss :D

I have loads of paperwork to do, today I'll separate it into two piles – ins and outs – and put it all in date order. If I have time, I'll put it all onto spreadsheets. If not, it'll have to wait til wednesday.

I need to clean the kitchen cupboard doors, there's quite a collection of paw prints on them :D The only downside to rainy days is muddy paws, lol. Also need to print a lot of stuff, do an online shop, do a bit of work in the greenhouses and dust and tidy upstairs.

    Moring all,

Grey and raining here again although Saturday was really nice so the weekend was not too bad.

Yesterday due to the rain we did not go out but DD and I cleared her room, the book shelf is gone and we got rid of at least 10 bags of books :o some to take to work, some for the book club in the village and a bag of thrillers for my mums 94 year old neighbour who love a scary book !

We also have a good clear out / tidy up and got 5 bags for the Charity shop, goodness knows where it all comes from but it all looks much nicer now.

Off to work for me today DD coming in too, she is saving every penny now towards a car so is doing any shift she can.

Not sure about dinner tonight will go and look in the freezer after this, might do some kind of curry.

Topsy and sistercas hope you are both ok, not heard from you for a while xx

    Have good days all xx

    Good morning everyone

Well another Monday has arrived, the weeks seem to be flying by. Hubby has gone off to work and the girls are having their breakfast. It is DD16's last week at school and she couldn't be more happy about it.

I have a very busy week ahead with friends visiting, hospital check up, diabetes clinic and my CMHT lady coming over to see me. Plus I am going to a new SW meeting on Tuesday. It is remarkable to me that I am able to contemplate all of this gadding about without too much distress. It is such a big change from just a few months ago.

For tea tonight I have some leftover burgers so I was going to crumble them up and make a chilli out of them. I think it will work ok, if not there is always egg and chips :D. I will crack on and make it once the girls have left for school as then there will be a long time for the flavour to develop.

Housework is just going to be tidying up the living room and dining room. Thankfully it is a lot cooler today so I shouldn't be reduced to a sweaty mess whilst pushing a hoover around.

I hope you all have a great day whatever you are up to, take care xx

Morning all, am just about to have some toast and then get ready for work. A long day today.

I am struggling for clothes, as had to re wash all that I washed on Saturday night. Everything smelt musty and although better the second time around, I am not totally happy with them. This happened a while ago, and a maintenance wash achieved little so if I can find somewhere that sells washing machine cleaner stuff, I will get some. That worked last time. I work just outside the city centre but the centre is full of clothes shops and department stores, coffee shops etc. So don't think I am going to find that unless I am out and about - and though I will be later, again not in the right place. Bother.

Hope everyone has a good day, either productive or relaxing.

Toast has popped up, I'm off!
I was jumping to conclusions and one of them jumped back

Good Morning chums dry and a bit cloudy here in Kent but a sunny day in my life as my DGS Ben is home for the summer. This morning I have book club then I have to whiz home and make lunch for my sis-ilaw who is coming for a natter then round to DDs to help Ben sort out his washing mountain. So today will fly by.Also have to pay the balance of our holiday money,:) happy to do that as its only 8 weeks until we are off back to our beloved Isle of Wight for two weeks.DGS were really well behaved over the weekend.DD offered DGS Ben's g/f a lift back to London yesterday afternoon so they never all got beck to Kent until 9 last night as they got held up in traffic through central london. His G/f lives in Kensington with her parents.Bless him he always seems to get ag/f who live miles away from North Kent. But DD said I couldn't just drop her at Norwich station :)and it kept Ben happy.
Right time to get a wriggle and the kettle on I think
    Have a good day chums

    Morning everyone,

Thanks for the thread HH :)

Grey and dull here after some overnight rain, but the garden looks fab!

Met up with DSis and DBIL yesterday then surprised mum and auntie who were having afternoon tea at a venue down the road. Bought mum a handbag and she was really pleased with it. She is quite difficult to buy for so this is good news!

Have been feeling quite low the last few days. I get anxiety which seems to come on for no apparent reason, which has me over analysing all sorts of things. Could do with a day off and a long walk somewhere with the dog, but unfortunately I have to go to work this morning. Still no job for DH and DS1 is unsure whether to do the second year of his BTEC or apply for an entry level job with my DSis's company who do outsourcing for insurance. He changes his mind daily and it's driving me mad. He only has two GCSE's (Maths and English) so his choices are limited. And breathe.......

More washing to do today (it's never ending) and will run the Hoover and duster round. DH did the bathrooms on Saturday so only a swish and swipe needed there.

    Have a good day all.
