Is contactless all that it's cracked up to be?

Thanks
In regards to is it worth it, it speeds up transactions but if Chip&Pin was faster it wouldnt be required.
Ive used Chip&Pin that authorise the card within 2 seconds, where as others seem to take abit longer. Same with ATM's. Some are super faster others slower. So maybe we should be looking at speeding up the authorisation process?0 -
Just read on the Halifax site that the first transaction has to be chip&pin
Makes sense really. If your new card goes missing in the post anyone can use it without the PIN0 -
So my switch to nationwide went through today and first contactless for a while with android pay. it wasn't instant took about 10 seconds from registering the payment to completing as went online to auth.
So far glad I switched savings rates marginally better, customer service good and got contactless option
Can't say contactless will change my world though lol0 -
I like to pretend I'm Harry Potter and whisper spells when I pay with contactless.
But that's just me

I have a basic account but no contactless with the bank I want and I dunno if I want to switch to a basic account what has contactless if it's not much of a benefit?
I love technology, hence I've been using contactless via iPhone 6 Apple pay, fuel/groceries/lunch.
I recently used my rbs debit contactless card to pay for petrol (via contactless card 'just for the sake of trying via card'
Can't honestly remember the last time using chip and pin, though I make a few small atm cash withdrawals -A lot LESS cash withdrawals since using contactless.Replenished CRA Reports.2020 Nissan Leaf 128-149 miles top charge. I love my contactless Barclays debit card. In the last couple of days alone, I've used it in as diverse places as paying for a copy of OH's birth certificate (where the clerk got very excited bless her as she said that was the first contactless transaction she had taken) to buying some tea towels in a small independent department store in Loughborough. It's a godsend for me as I can't use a PIN so between my Chip and Sign card with Lloyds and this one it works well.*The RK and FF fan club* #Family*Don’t Be Bitter- Glitter!* #LotsOfLove ‘Darling you’re my blood, you have my heartbeat’ Dad 20.02.200

It's great if you want anyone to use your card.
It's useless if you want to spend more than £30
Look at it like this. A long time ago you paid in cash or wrote a cheque
Then your card was mechanically swiped in a machine and you signed it with a ballpoint pen, kept a copy, and the merchant kept copies to be processed
Then you were given a pin, four digit number and you enter that into a key pad
Now you hust tap the card.
People hated each change and moaned about it
Make your own mind up

That is not quite true as many retailers have no limits on Apple Pay, and possibly also Android Pay.0
