Help with Lloyds PPI Claim

I've banked with Lloyds for nearly 30 years and over that time had lots of loans and various credit cards. I know on some of those loans and cc's I had PPI and I also know in some instances it was while I was self employed. I have no details of any of those transactions any longer.

A couple of weeks ago while trying to work out how to claim, I found the lloyds phone number to make a PPI claim and rang them. I explained at the time that I didn't have the details of the transactions and they were very friendly and explained how they would start my claim for me and contact me shortly.

A few days ago I received a PPI questionnaire from them. This asks me for the full policy details for the claim I am making and lots of other information I do not have. It also states I need to complete the questionnaire in full and that I have to complete one of these for every individual claim.

Also it states I only have 14 days to respond to the questionnaire to continue with my case. I am not aware that I could have asked them for a list of all my accounts and transactions that had PPI, but I now only have a few days to respond to this and I am afraid I am going to lose out.

My friend told me just to fill most of the questions in with 'Unkown' and send it back but that seems completely contrary to what is stated. Please help me.

Thanks

    Your friend is correct.
  • So that is all I need to do then? Complete most things as unknown and they will do a search for me and find all policies that they have incorrectly charged me PPI on?

you dont get PPI back just because you paid it.
You dont 'claim' you make a complaint about misselling and they will ask you to prove
that you were miss sold any of these PPIs

They may not have charged you incorrectly. You are making a complaint saying they have. They will look into whether they feel you are correct or not. The details you give can help (although saying dont know is better than telling a lie as they can ask you to prove something or they may find records that say something different and your credibility goes)

Thanks. I know the reasons I was miss-sold it, I do not know the policy details or the dates hence my question of how I fill in the forms.

I was miss-sold it because at the time I was a contractor on weekly contracts and they would not have paid me out. Also, I did not know they had put it onto my loans.

I'm less sure than when I started the thread now of what to do :(

You did know they put it on your loans, you just forgot. There will be paperwork somewhere if they still have it, with your signature on it, so don't use that as a reason.
Better reasons are, they wouldn't have paid out, it was single premium, you could have afforded to pay the loans back with savings, you had good sick pay and benefits.

Policy details, they will find, and dates, if they still have paperwork.
I did the same, but I sent them a SAR first to see what paperwork was left, and got more detailed info from that.

Thanks. I'm probably not explaining this well. I did know it was on for some but not for others. I didn't know they wouldn't have paid it out.

My concern is this deadline they have stated of two weeks. It sounds like I now cannot issue a SAR to get the details I need.

So the main question is if I fill it in with unknow to cover multiple claims will they reject it? Also is this deadline something I have to work to.

    Thanks for the responses.

You can't do one complaint form for multiple policies, as they will all be unique and the same reasons won't apply to them all.

What can I do then. Can I get them to wait while I issue a SAR?

You don't have to reply within 14 days at all. To maximise your chances of success, do your research first and then complain.
