Cathay Pacific Deals to Australia

Hello - am planning trip to Australia next March/ April and Have question on flights.

Would like to stop over in Hong Kong for a couple of nights on way over to Melbourne.

Right now all agents telling me Quantas have good deals which would mean stop in Dubai. Anyone know if Cathay do flight sales and what time of year?

Being quoted best price of £1030 for UK - Melbourne via Dubai/2 iinternals and return from Sydney to UK with Quantas but around £1200 if we switch to Cathay to get along Kong stop.

Don't want to leave it too late but right now is 9 months in advance so wonder if it's worth holding out for a Cathay sale? Thanks very much

Are they packaging the flights with 2 nights in a hotel in Hong Kong?

Are they ticketing the internal flights with the international flights with one booking ref all on one ticket?

  • They can book HK hotel if we want though which I'll probably do but they've not mentioned about this being at a super reduced rate.

Assume flights would all be on same booking as we'd book at same time. If it helps been talking to Trailfinders, Freedom Australia and Flight Centre for these.

Price I've been quoted is for Cathay for internationals is London - Melbourne & return to UK from Sydney plus internal from Melbourne to Alice and one from Ayers Rock Resort to Sydney.

If they are not giving you a discount with packaging a hotel stay with the flights, then why bother with a TA?

With these very long flights it's worth considering savings/extras on a per flight hour basis.

Have a look at your itinerary to see if you are planning to travel on a peak Easter holiday day and perhaps adjust slightly.

Keep your eye on the Cathay Pacific uk website for offers.

We got fantastic business class deals with CX for September, but we are flying to Oslo to get them, well worth it IMO. To Sydney that is

What's your back up plan if your flight to Oslo is cancelled?

Plenty flights to Oslo from my local airport and I'm ever the optimist. Would have the same problem getting to London to catch the flight! However if the worst happened I just write off the money.

But would that be on a through ticket XXX-LON-XXX-SYD though and less risky?

And most likely significantly more expensive. Risk and reward...

Qatar gave some very good business class fares from Pisa and Frankfurt at the moment.
