When I tried to log into Facebook today I got a message saying that my account has been temporarily locked due to someone trying to log in from an unfamiliar location. I got this email also
Hi
It looks like someone tried to log into your account on June 12 at 6:57am using Chrome for Windows 7. Your account is safe; we just wanted to make sure it was you who tried to log in from somewhere new. If you don't think this was you, please log into your account so we can walk you through a few steps to keep your account safe. Thanks,
The Facebook Team
They then ask me to resubmit a new password.
Has anyone else had similar as I'm trying to find out if it is genuine. I can't get into Facebook now.I've emailed it as a report but I believe they dont always read them.
Cheers

Having recently done the Inca Trail and Kilimanjaro...my life is ok ta0 -
It sounds genuine since you have an e-mail confirming the issue as well, if you have another device it may be worth trying to login there and if you get the same error it's likely it is genuine. You can set up Facebook to warn you each time a new device/browser logs in which you can then accept or flag it as not being you which I find useful in case someone does get into my account that shouldn't
I did smile at your Inca Trail and Kilimanjaro comment (well done by the way, those are tremendous achievements) as my main use for Facebook is organising and taking part in bike rides which I find it's a great tool for

I've had it a few times! Especially when my ISP changes my IP address and I log in from the West of Scotland with my phone and my PC logs in From London >_<
I've set up 2 factor authentication now so I don't get these messages or lockouts anymore.
2 factor authentication will either send a SMS to your phone or to a Facebook app screen and will show you a code to enter on the facebook login screen to make sure it's actually you!Laters

This has previously done the rounds in the form of a scam to steal/access Facebook accounts, don't click on any links in the email as they might redirect you to a site that looks like Facebook, but is not.“I may not agree with you, but I will defend to the death your right to make an a** of yourself.”
