Parking fine - 6 hour ticket- over stayed 17min

Hi I have a parking ticket from parking eye.

I bought a 6 hour ticket but I got a letter saying I owe them 60 pound for staying over 17 minutes.

Basically it took me a few minutes to park as we have a baby where we needed to get pram out. Like wise when we left , this is where the 17 minutes extra came from. I assumed its at the point we parked/ got ticket.

Please advise how to contest.

Good news! It's not a "fine" and you'll soon get some excellent advice. I've fought and won in the past.

    Parking Eye are simply scammers.

    Read the NEWBIES thread please.

Were you shopping and do you have a receipt, if so, first point of call is the retailer asking why you have been scammed when spending money and demand it is cancelled

    Who is the retailer ?

You have been caught by the misrepresentation of ParkingEye in their signage and on the ticket machine.

Nowhere does it state on the ticket machine that the parking time is the stay time in the car park measured by the ANPR cameras.

Most sensible people would think that the parking time is measured from when you purchase the ticket until getting in your car and driving away. Not PE of course!

However not everything is going to go their way and there is a grace period of 10 minutes from entry and 10 minutes to leave. At 17minutes you are within this timescale.

Reading the NEWBIES thread is essential and you will then get the gist of how you overcome these PCN's.

If you are close to the car park get pictures of the signage and the ticket machine. Read up other threads about that particular location.

If its a PE car park they will have a mention on here or Pepipoo.

DO NOT IGNORE or think this will go away. PE have to be dealt with and you learn NEVER to use a retailer's car park (or site) managed by PE.

    (a) Read it again. Not on a phone.

    (b) Get someone to read it for you?

    Ok read it(paragraph 9).

The only omission I could find is the following

specify the total amount of those parking charges that are unpaid, as at a time which is—

I bought a ticket for 6 hours, anpr specifies 6:17.
It only states time I came and left, and not the time/charge overran.

Please advise next steps? Wait for NTK or appeal.

Read and understand the NEWBIES thread and keep reading it until you get it!

There is a process clearly set out there of how to do these things.

Step 1 will be the letter in BLUE to PE. They will reject your appeal and offer you a POPLA code where you stand an excellent chance of winning Only if you work through and understand the various threads similar to yours.

Don't forget pictures of signage and ticket machine.

What location? Look for threads at that location.
