Better than Halifax Clarity - 0% cards for travel?

I'm travelling abroad for two weeks from the 18th to celebrate the end of nine months' hard study towards a professional exam.

Lonely Planet, which I use as a guide for how much to budget, suggests that I might need an additional £1,000 above the £400 I've already converted.

I already have a Halifax Clarity card which I intended to use but when I have to pay it back, which I always do in full, I will be living on next to nothing until October.

A colleague suggested I apply for a 0% interest card and withdraw a cash advance on which I might have to pay a nominal fee, then pay back the money at a more gradual pace.

I was hoping to hear from others who've done so and whether they think it is a workable idea please?

Ask him which card offers 0% on cash advances.rolleyes.gif

Then check cards offering 0% on Money Transfers

Alternatively get a 0% Credit Cards card and transfer the balance from Clarity to it. Get timing right as 0% BT widow can be small.

That said, the cost of balance/money transfer can be about the same as the typical fee for currency conversion. So, any 0% spending card will be no worse than Clarity if you can't pay the latter off with cash: 0% Balance Transfer
