Would anyone know if the Amex card is easy to manage online and that apple pay can be used with it?

Amex have a good website that seems to cover all the basic... and yes, Apple Pay also works (Amex Platinum Cashback).

Amex are really good online and over the phone.
They also don't stop transactions all the time (like capital one).
    Can't help with apple pay.

WDS, i always use a DD for the full balance to clear my Amex card.

worth mentioning that once Amex produce the statement then the DD will take the balance thereon. ie. it will not take a reduced amount if you make additional payments, as many cards would do.

further, the DD date is c10days prior to the payment due date, so if someone wanted to delay their payment by a few days they could choose to pay manually instead.. but i don't.

also, in terms of building a credit history, potentially helping to increase limits, it is important to let the statement be produced and then cleared by any of the above, and not clear prior to the statement being produced. the perceived wisdom is that the statement being produced and then cleared is required to demonstrate the 'spend & repay & spend & repay' that creates your track record.

    .

Not in my experience. I always pay mine in full so get a e-mail from them as below, so no DD is taken.

    Direct Debit adjustment notification

    Dear xxxx

We noticed that some additional payments were recently made to your Account. As a result, we have adjusted your Direct Debit amount so that your Account is not overpaid.

Direct Debit date: 06 Jun 2016

    Direct Debit amount: £0.00

You can check your most recent Card activity, including your credits and payments, at americanexpress.co.uk

What would you like to do now?

wow, ok.. i have certainly not found that to be the case in the past, and i have seen reference to it on forums recently. if Amex have changed their approach then fine, sorry if i am outdated.

it doesn't concern me, but i thought it was worth pointing out in case it affected anyone else.

Just curious why that would be a problem? If you pay in full by DD every month, why would you want to pay additional amounts?

Engineers just see a glass twice the size it needed to be :D

If I get a refund I'd prefer they take the NEW lower balance.
