ESA medical to decision timeframe?

Hi

I had my medical four weeks ago, been in support group for a couple of years. I've still not had a decision letter and I'm getting really worried.

I want to phone up and check as the anxiety of waiting is getting worse with every passing day! The problem is I can't deal with phone calls and I don't expect they'd tell my friend if she called and asked.

So does anyone have recent experience on how long a decision can take or is expected to take - I can't find any government website that gives an answer. Is there a difference on timeframe depending on the decision? I guess if the DM needs info from my dr or could add to the time?

Any help would be appreciated.

Thank you
I wish I knew more than I do!! :)

    Thanks for the help, just wondering if it can be months rather than weeks! It's wearing me down! :(

    My forms were posted back in late March and I'm still waiting for a decision. I phoned them yesterday to find out if any progress had been made and they told me they have all the information they need but it hasn't been looked at yet due to backlogs. So it's anybody's guess really.

    I find it difficult to make phone calls too but the person I spoke to was very helpful and genuinely pleasant.

    Could you ring them and authorise your friend to be able to speak to them on your behalf in the future?

    I understand your concerns but if you could manage that one call it would make things easier going forward

    I know 3 different people who have applied for ESA in the past 5-6 months: one from near me (South of England,) one from the West Midlands, and one from Cheshire. Each one has taken 6-8 weeks from posting it, to get a date for the assessment (and the assessment is typically 2-3 weeks after the letter.) Then it is 3-5 weeks before the letter where you hear the decision.

    Of course, other areas may be different, and I have heard of people waiting 2, and even 3 times what I have mentioned.

    If you have been waiting 4 weeks, then I would give it another week, then ring the number on the top of the letter that gave you your assessment date. It depends on the area, but after your assessment, you should hear within 6 weeks normally.

    Don't worry too much about the call, they are always quite pleasant. They will probably discuss it with your friend, but will need your permission first.
    You didn't, did you? :rotfl::rotfl:
