Since I installed avg I can see that some e-mails are being received but they are not actuallty received in the inbox, last week I checked by webmail inbox and there was a normal safe e-mail,however when I went to Express same thing it dissapeared.
I have now installed Avast anti virus and still the same thing happens,i saw on the log the e-mail but it was not in the inbox.
it does not happen with all e-mails.
Anyone any ideas as this is a puzzle to me--using xp with sp2.
My thanks.

Are you with Blueyonder? Their e-mail hasn't been working properly for a couple of weeks in OE. It's OK in webmail though.

I think it's a M$ server problem - see the Hotmail Down? thread.

Given that it started when you installed anti-virus detection programs - perhaps the emails ARE INFECTED - Just a thought !

With AVG check the Virus Vault
