Help I bought a pressure cooker!

I have no idea how to use it-it was 4.99 in a charity shop so I couldn't pass it up.
Here's some photos of it

The only thing I use it for is pulses, but since I discovered tins it's been redundant.

You can use it to steam as well. The idea is it speeds up the cooking process...so I guess any slow cooker recipe can be done.

I use mine to make stock from chicken carcass.
I cook my potatoes in it, very fast regardless of the quantity.
The most important thing to remember is that the cooking time is based on the size of the food chunks, not how much food you put in.
Ie big potatoes lakes twice as long as quartered chunks.
I prefer it to the microwave.
When the pressure comes up and it starts to hiss then you turn the heat down.

If you cannot get pressure it will need a new seal. These are inexpensive on line..

Right I didn't try it today as I haven't had time-I bought some reduced veg for soup today for 9p. I was thinking of trying those tomorrow but do I just put water in etc like I would for a normal soup with all the herbs and a stock cube? I presume(stupid question alert) I don't use the basket for soup? Only if I'm doing potatoes or something or meat?
