Nest Cam query

Hi all,
Just wondering if anyone had a Nest cam and if you received a email notification or alert when the camera was not reachable i.e internet goes down or power outage etc?
Obviously realise the device couldn't send the notification but do Nest monitor the connection to your camera from there end and send you an alert/email notification when it goes down and then comes back up?
Looking for a camera that will do this
Many thanks
Kevin

You could try something like https://uptimerobot.com0

you will probably find that most devices when the loose power they are unable to send messages to say the have no power, and have trouble sending messages when disconnected too.
There are ways around this. one is monitoring software which in your case will ping the camera and router ip.
A second way is some uninteruptable power supplies send messages when they loose power.
What happens when your router looses power, or phone line dies? Some router and cameras can be set to reboot at a pre-set time to avoid lockup
Another solution is purchase a camera that works on 5V, and you can get these 5v usb phone battery packs that could act as a very cheap battery backup0 -
I use a Ycam monitor
It alerts me via email if the camera is not transmitting/ power off etc
No monthly fees like some Nest products I looked at

Hi all thanks for replies.
I've tried uptimerobot liked to a dynamic dns but it fails at the moment as no actual device to monitor i.e no nas or anything where i can specific the port to connect to etc... so best i can do atm is basically check the website every so often for uptimerobot and see any drops as the alerting is working in terms of sending me emails BUT they all say its down when clearly i can use internet ok so something to work on....
I just wanted a temp solution ideally and though a cam might be cheapest and easiest way but uptimerobot is almost there but not quiet...
Goal is to get a NAS and then the nas provider will provide dynamic dns and will alert me when it cannot contact it etc but i'm not likely to get that till nearer the end of the year so was looking for a different solution until then.
Thanks all!
