Soundbar connection

HI, got a LG soundbar recently. It has optical connection. My TV is Samsung with sky HD box.
Should I connect soundbar with TV optical out or with sky box optical out. I know Both will work but just checking if one is better than other...

If you connect it to the Sky box and then watch a DVD/Blu-ray, the sound bar will not get the audio. If you connect it to the TV, then the audio should be correct regardless of which input you use.0

Correct, but any discrete surround sound (5.1 Dolby Digital) might get downmixed to just stereo, or 2.0 or 2.1. The best thing to do would be connect each source to the sound bar separately, but I realise that might not be an option. How many/what inputs does the soundbar have?0
