Ferry cabins

anyone know how strict they are with people in cabins for overnight ferries?

The biggest cabin seems to be for 5 people, and I have 4 children (and a husband) - so 6 of us.

I was thinking of getting one of these cabins and just either doubling two of the kids up or having the youngest in bed with us

    Would they know?
One parent plus 2 kids sorts out and finds cabin. One parent plus other kids joins them later once they're in. How old are the kids? Just wondering if they're really narrow beds like the caravan ones.
(That is speculation on my part, but nothing to stop one adult from saying they'll find a seat elsewhere if asked.)

Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.

Might depend on the route and ferry company.

Some crossings it's compulsory to have a cabin so they'd probably insist you have a berth pp. Otherwise I wouldn't have thought it's a problem but check the T&Cs.

bear in mind the cabins are small, when my friend and i had 4 birth overngt portsmouth down to france, the 2 beds were fixed as single, the other 2 births were drop down above each one.

If kids are young you could always top and tail them x
xx rip dad... we had our ups and downs but we’re always be family xx

Me and DH manage in a single berth so two kids in one won't be a problem

    What route?

Don't you have to put all persons traveling on the booking form? So if you put five and six turn up you won't get on.
But if you put six then they'll insist you have a berth for each, so a five berth cabin won't be big enough.

Dos the crossing offer reclining.seats as well as cabins?
If so it might be wise and cheaper to book a five berth and a.reclining seat, then once on board all bunk in the cabin???
