Well just on the chance that that post was in any way linked to the one i made...

It wasn't my car and at no point during the drive or the discussion afterwards did i think - hey i better note down the brand of tyre, the name of the tyre and every minor detail about the tyre because one day in about 12 months time there's a chance i may refer to it on an internet message board where 80% of the members must have been taking some illegal substance due to the way they are always suspicious.

However if your post wasn't linked in any way at all to what i said in my previous post then it doesn't matter

No - I was not having a go at your post at all.

My comment was based on what I see posted on many forums - especially M-Benz, Audi, and BMW ones where R-F tyres are a frequent topic.

People just don't mention what make of R-F tyres they were unhappy or disappointed with

R-F tyres have improved beyond all recognition from the early days of their introduction when they were truly horrid.

I just feel it's a shame that many folks have possibly been put off R-F tyres and their undoubted safety aspects based on their first experiences/encounters with the 1st generation of them which had fiercely rigid sidewalls.

@Iceweasel: The Continental Tyres you mention are not available in a 275 width, they go up to a maximum of 255, and therefore I cannot comment on them.

The run flat tyres I had on my car were Dunlop Sport Maxx in the same dimensions as in my original post. They were horrendous.

I do fully agree with you on the safety aspects of run flats, and not wanting your good wife changing a wheel at the side of the road. My wife never drives my car, however, she has a BMW X1, and on her car, there are no plans to move away from run flats. It suffers from the same issues as most run flats do, but, it is great knowing that if she did get a puncture she could safely get off the motorway or drive home. Her X1 has Goodyear 255/40/18 run flats - at your recommendation, if available, will certainly look at the Continentals when it is time to replace.
