Lloyds PPI claim accidently through CMC

Has anyone else accidently entered into a claim with Professional Personal Claims through their lloydstsb-ppi.co.uk link?

    There are some dodgy claims companies out there that make you think you are using the genuine firm. If you feel you have been misled or mis-sold by the claims company then report them to the claims management regulator.

  • Thank you - it would appear they are an authorised CMC however my partner entered into the 'agreement' without knowing that they were a CMC. He believed they were working for Lloyds because of the web address and the Lloyds logo all over the website. Is there any information anywhere that would help with a complaint to the company?

    Second paragraph on home page:

  • He followed the link from a paid Google advert - where that information is not available. He is not overly computer literate and believed due to the lloyds logos and photos used and the web address that it was a company lloyds directed him to use.

    I feel this tactic is aimed for people who do not use computers everyday and not overly aware of Google adverts and generally the Internet, including web address names, and how they work.
  • I am also looking to see if anyone else had the same experience as he did rather than receive responses showing the error of his ways. Hindsight is a great thing...

    In my view your partner has good cause to argue that he was misled.


    In the first instance he should register a formal complaint to the company which, if he is not satisfied with the outcome, can take his complaint to the Legal Ombudsman.


    I would also recommend that he makes a complaint to the Advertising Standards Authority, which if upheld would strongly support his complaint to the company/Legal Ombudsman.


    Regardless of the disclaimer that tomtontom referred to in post #4 the overall visual presentation of the site counts, in this case the replication of the same colour scheme, layout and font and the use of Lloyds logos and images.

    Do you have a link to the page? I've followed two Google ads and neither have the Lloyds logo.

    Did he not cancel the agreement within the cooling off period? Has he actually signed anything, and what does this document say?

    I really don't think you will find many people who post on this sub forum silly enough to sign up to a CMC without knowing they are!.

    I think the lesson here is don't sign up to things without reading them and understanding them first... but then if you knew that you would likely not have PPI in the first place!.

    The picture at the top changes - multiple pictures show the lloyds logo in photo format.

    He didn't know he had used a CMC until the letter that says - we will send you a bill for our costs.

    He filled out the questionnaire and received a further questionnaire by post and sent that off - obviously that was signed but no mention of fees etc at that stage. If he had known he would have cancelled.
  • Thank you for your positivity and help. Perhaps a view should be taken that it's better to ask and to find out, than to sit and wonder if anyone else has made the same mistake.

    As for his PPI - this could be a whole new forum as to why they should teach children about banking and credit cards at school so they know what they are agreeing to at the age when they can get one. The loan was suggested by the bank manager to 'consolidate' his credit cards and came with a pre ticked PPI box... But then again you wouldn't know this as obviously your were far superior and clever at the age of 20.
