Ezi Collections

First of all apologies if this is in the wrong category as I don't normally post on here.

We have a small shop on eBay and use a courier collection company called EZI Collections. They collect parcels from us each day and deliver them to Yodel.

We learned last Wednesday 1st June that EZI had gone bust. No notice was given to their staff and their drivers were called in on the Tuesday PM to give their vans, keys and phones back. Unfortunately we had a collection of 11 parcels on the Tuesday morning and the parcels would have been in the van when it was given back to EZI. We have no idea where these parcels are. They haven't reached Yodel so we can only assume that they are on EZI premises somewhere. There is no-one answering the phone or emails.

Other EZI users have posted on the eBay community forums to say they are in the same situation. They have visited the various EZI addresses, reported it to the police, and contacted various departments but say no-one is willing to help.
We don't know whether the parcels will ever appear again, if they will eventually go to Yodel or if they will be returned to us. We are going to have to send replacements out to our customers at a cost to us of over £400.

Has any-one any advice or ideas where we can go from here?
Many thanks, Sue

    Insurance?

Are you a consumer or are you conducting a business? If a consumer you are in the correct place, this is a Consumer Rights Forum.
  • I am a consumer of EZI collections.

But are you a business? It does make a huge difference. Buying as a business and buying as a consumer are different things.

This isn't meant to be patronising, but if you run an eBay shop and you have a regular courier collection, then you are likely to be / be seen as a business, not as a consumer.
  • Okay I understand now. Any idea where I can post my question please. I looked though the threads but didn't see anything applicable.
    Thanks

It's not so much where to post your question, as opposed to being a different situation apropos the answers you are given. A business is different to a consumer.

It all comes down to their terms of business as a B2B transacation, If their terms (or the terms you gave them and they signed) allow for compensation then you can take them to the small claims court. However if the business is closing down then it is likely you will get nothing back as you will be at the back of a list of creditators.

I would contact Yodel and see what they can do if they do have the packages.

Does your business insurance cover this?

Can you put something in place for the future? Yodel do pick up packages and don't charge us any extra and do good deals if going direct. All couriers do. Your type of arrangement seems very unusual and I can't think why you would do that instead of going to the courier directly.

Tbh there isn't really anywhere that you can post the question because it's impossible to answer.
